I ask because I’m trying to link the website to a url shortener and I need to configure the DNS. From reading on these forums, I’ve learned I can’t do that in wordpress, and I need to do it through my hosting provider. I inherited this website as part of joining the PTO at my kid’s middle school and the website was set up by a board president several years ago. I do not have access to their information and I have not received a bill or anything from a hosting provider. Neither have the members of the previous board.

Can anyone recommend a good hosting provider for WordPress? I’m looking for a reliable, fast, and cheap hosting provider that would not drive me to write those horror stories on multiple forums out of sheer anger and rage.
I know WordPress recommends three providers: BlueHost, DreamHost, and SiteGround.
I have browsed and viewed hundreds of YouTube videos and reached out to many influential YouTubers who have channels dedicated to this. In summary, this is what they told me::
Avoid BlueHost because it is an EIG owned company and will drive you crazy with lack of support and uptime after a year or so. This also takes out HostGator, which I had shortlisted because they are quite cheap.
Avoid DreamHost because it has its own custom cPanel and so transferring a website out, at a later stage, will be very complicated.
Avoid SiteGround because although their service is good, they hike up their prices pretty soon.
They then proceed to recommend me their preferred hosting provider accompanied with affiliate links. For most of these companies, I have struggled to find decent reviews, and so I’m sceptical.
One very famous YouTube guy replied to one of my YouTube comments and claimed that WordPress ‘charges’ millions of dollars to ‘recommend’ hosting providers. Another one asked me to switch to WebFlow.
Needless to say, I’m very confused. I’m a simple guy looking for a simple solution. Can anyone suggest a genuinely good hosting provider?
Cheers,
Roy
my hostingprovider does not support parse_ini_file(), so please advice if this change to bolcom-partnerprogramma-wordpress-plugin.php could be used safely:
Original:
$config = parse_ini_string(file_get_contents('config.ini', true));
Replaced by:
$contentown = file_get_contents('config.ini', true);
$config = parse_ini_string($contentown, true);
Tested it with own provider, it works without the ^&%&#^$% security issue.

]]>I have a wordpress website hosted on 000webhost.com for free. Whenever someone opens my website, he/she has to come across with the pop up add from hosting provider.
kindly suggest solution/relevant plugin.
I shall be grateful for your assistance.
We have a wordpress install, when requesting a password to be sent to the set email address [email protected] the email sent is coming from [accountowner]@server.hostingprovider.com
Accountowner being the username of the hosting account the wordpress has been installed on.
Any guidance on how to have the emails come from the website domain rather than the web hosting companies server?
It is cPanel.
Thanks
]]>I hope someone can help me. Hosting provider Crazy Domains has suspended without any warning the WP website of one of my clients due to the following:
– Website sends spam X-PHP-Script: @domainname/ for 127.0.0.1, 127.0.0.1 X-Mailer: PHPMailer 5.2.9 (https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/). –
According to Crazy Domains this could be caused by an email plugin (that’s what Crazy Domains said) but I don’t think that’s the case. I think someone is creating false email addresses used for spamming using the domain name of my client outside of the Crazy Domains hosting environment.
I did a security scan through managewp.com and everything is clean.
What steps should I take to avoid this from happening again. I’ve got security plugins installed (iThemes Security version 4.6.13).
Any advice / suggestions are most welcome!
Sandra
]]>I thought I should contact you re: a problem I am having with my Web Hosting Provider. I am trying to get your cron manager to run on my hosting providers linux server, but I don’t know what to do or how to set that up as I got the following message from my provider and thought you may be able to help me out:
“”Sorry for the inconvenience, however from cron job normally php scripts are executed and also you can execute bash scripts however make sure that path of file/script you are executing is correct. Can you please check with Zapier support and let us know which script/file need to be executed in cron job so that we can guide you accordingly. Currently I am not seeing any cron job setup in your account.””
These are the words that was quoted from my client’s hosting provider. If you could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Leo
