Can’t “Customise” since moving to WordPress 5.9

Since moving to wordpress 5.9:

Appearance – Customise – doesn’t work.
Appearance – Additional CSS doesn’t work.

Also I can’t simply move an Inactive widget into a another area, say Sidebar.

I updated from 5.7.2 to 5.8 and the post/page edits bring up blank spaces. My plugins were updated before I updated to wp5.8
SO: I’m wondering if the issue lies in the theme being incompatible with wp5.8?
BTW: all this was done on a staging site – so my live site is still intact!

Number of sidebar widgets allowed in Hemingway theme

Is there a limit to how many sidebar widgets you can add to the sidebar? They’re there when I add them and view my site but they’re gone when I go back to the widgets page where I added them.

I just downloaded Hemingway as a new theme to my site and when I downloaded it the sidebar widgets showed up on the preview. But, when I published it they were gone. Can you help?

Also, is there a difference between this Hemingway theme and the Hemingway Rewritten theme? And is there a way to make the screen/fonts larger?

I appreciate any assistance you can give to resolve this issue.

Sidebar Widgets Gone from Homepage

Today, with a new blog posting, my sidebar widgets disappeared from the homescreen, and the only thing in the sidebar is a link to “older posts.” Previously, there was a linkable list of 5-6 posts, a category widget, an archive widget, and a Blog Subscription (Jetpack) widget.

How can I get them back on the desktop homescreen?

If I click on older posts, or go to any other page but the home page with my newest blog post, all the widgets appear in the sidebar.

Now, this is something to be handled in order to create a childtheme. There seems to be a problem with the transposh plug in. What would be the reason for being a problem in line with the child theme? I use transposh to translate my site pages.
And how could I debug this.

I had been communicating to the transposh support who did feel that there was problem with the theme:

Yeah I think the issue here might be with your child or parent theme, but I can’t say for sure.

Since then the problem may be somewhere else not defined-is there something thyt could be done on top of this statements? I would deactivate the transposh plug in next.

I have one Question concerning the Hemingway WordPress-Theme. Is it allowed to remove the

section in the right lower corner (this is german version here) if I pay/donate for the theme or is this allowed under the licence anyway?

I’ve seen a thread where someone asks how to remove it within single pages, but I don’t want to do something which is not allowed.

Please don’t get me wrong, I would never claim that the theme is mine or something and would not remove any comments of the source codes which claim the original creator. It is just that a person for whom I am currently building a site needs this section to be empty or wants to use it for other info.

I am testing Hemingway currently to see, if it fits my needs. I have to say, that I am pretty excited. There is just one thing, that bothers me. It is the size of the header image. Especially for the homepage.

Is it possible to increase the size of the header image?
Is it possible to do it for the homepage only?

Is there a special css code in the style.php, that defines/limits the size of the header image? Sorry, I could not find it.

I certainly would appreciate a little help.
