]]>I just configured the social login plugin in my staging environment using my own Google Credentials. I am using it for registration and signin.
However, I am bit confused if I am required to go through the Google Verification process for this usage. The documentation on Google is a bit confusing and seems to suggest both ways in different places. The verification process could take, apparently, up to 6 weeks.
Could you please tell me if it is required?
thanks,

]]>Problem – As per convention I wanted to get my site listed on Google. That’s where I came across the concept of Sitemaps. First I used Yoast plugin to create a sitemap. It worked but it wasn’t getting verified. So I additionally used an XML file, which got the site verified.
But then all the pages, except the homepage stopped loading, showing a 404 error. Even the WordPress/Elementor won’t load.

I am not a tech savvy person. I am having difficulty understanding this problem. Hence I request your expert assistance to help me identify and resolve the issue.
Your reply would be highly appreciated.

I checked and the Google search console tag is still present in my Yoast Google settings, and in the header section of the plugin “insert headers and footers”.
I clicked “verify” again, but get the error “ownership verification failed” with “could not find your site” as the reason.
I’m trying to think what might have changed recently. Today I updated the plugin “Google analytics Pro”, and a few weeks back I started using Cloudflare, and updated the DNS records according to their instruction. I see DNS records play a part in this verification, so wondered if perhaps I’d missed a step there somehow, that Google should have been in the list of DNS records. But this might be a long shot, perhaps the only DNS link is that you can use DNS to verify the domain. But the issue isn’t verifying on my site, the issue is Google can’t find my domain.
Before this happened, Google was unable to read my sitemap (I could see it though) and I’ve had an unsolved 5xx error in console for over a year. Not sure if any of that’s relevant to this. But I now can’t check anything in Console until the domain/account is verified again.
I’d love your help on this! Sorry, but I’m not super technical.
Many thanks
Anna
I am trying to configure the app according to instructions and everything went fine up until the last step “Grant permisson”, when I get a “This app is not verified”-message that blocks me from going any further.
First time I got the impression that Google demanded verification for the app because I uploaded a icon-thumbnail in “OAuth consent screen”-step, so I redid everything from scratch and avoided uploading anything. Same problem seem to appear anyway – the same message appeared the second time as well.
The verification-process seems to take several weeks and include a number of annoying steps so I’d rather avoid it if possible…
Do anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong?
Cheers!
/Max
