Google Gears and WP 3.1

wordpress freezes my browser (chrome dev) whenever i post or update and article (post or page). i suspect this is related to google gears. only recently i removed all the data from gears, just to find myself enabling it again a couple of days later. a web search lead me to the wordpress changelog, where it’s mentioned that gears (“turbo” in wordpress) is no longer supported, though code might (!) still be present.

one might argue whether this is a gears or a wordpress issue, but i have no other problems with other websites supporting gears since i wiped out my gears db.

has anyone run into similiar problems or can you reproduce the problem? any ideas on how to fix this?

Has anyone ever used WP Turbo plugin, which adds Google Gears support to WP blog. I’m just curious if anyone found this to be a good feature to offer blog readers.

Just an update for those who like the Turbo feature (a necessity here in rural cyber-bog)

Google Gears is finally (mostly) playing nice with Firefox 3.5

You can download at https://gears.google.com though some warnings:

1) There download appears to be rolling in and out of commission.
2) Conflicting reports about whether the release for Linux or OSX versions of FF3.5 is available.

If you manage to get it, it seems to be working for me.

Google Gears and WP Thickbox crashing Firefox

I’ve come across an odd one which I can only assume is a result of a recent Google update.

Every time I make use of the backend of WordPress to try and either View Details on a plugin, or upload an image, upon the Thickbox loading Firefox instantly crashes.

I had thought this was just me but when I heard a friend report it, I decided that there was something properly wrong. I have tested this across a variety of different WP installs, including one which was a fresh install with no plugins installed.

I slowly disabled every Firefox plugin one by one and it stopped happening when I disabled Google Gears.

So right now Google Gears is staying disabled, which is unfortunate.

Anyone any idea what’s going on with this?

Hi all, maybe I’ve been asleep for the last few weeks, but has anyone else noticed that google gears now works with google chrome browser, mind you, I have now upgraded to 2.7.1 so might just be a coincidence.
Now all I have to do is understand what its doing
I did get Press This working, which is a lot more useful than I thought it would be. Also I have to find a reseller hosting package for a client anyone have any recommendations, I’ve been told Hostgator is good.
Oh well, back to work.

Google Gears? I don’t Get It!

I use Google Gears with Google Docs where I can create and edit stuff offline and it just synchronizes when I’m back online.

I thought this was also possible with WordPress, but as it appears it is not.

Is there a possibility to work with WordPress offline, create new posts, answer comments and when I’m back online it just synchronizes?

Is there a plugin or something (or maybe I’m just using Google Gears wrong)?

Google Gears STILL not working

The TURBO function of WordPress is causing me a bit of a headache. It always gets stuck on wp-admin/images/align-center.png, with an error number of 302. The image exists, but when I link to it I get an error 404.

Any ideas

Issues with Google Gears (Turbo)

I’m having trouble launching Google Gears (Turbo). During the download of my files it hangs up on:

“/blog/wp-includes/js/swfupload/swfupload_f9.swf’ returned response code 302”

I’ve tried both FF3 and IE7 just to make sure its not a browser issue. Is anyone else having this issue or something similar to it?

Is there a partucilar file permission setting that images need to be set at for this error to be avoided
