I can create a blog entry using Live Writer and post it successfully. I can also connect to my blog and download the current theme and I can download pages from the blog. What I can’t do is download existing posts.
When I try to download posts, I get the following error:
The response to the metaWeblog.getRecentPosts method received from the blog server was invalid:
Invalid response document returned from XmlRpc server
When I look at the Live Writer log file I can see the text of my posts are in the log but there is also an error message. I’ve tried disabling plugins (generally I only use one – “Easy iFrame Loader”) and changing to different themes.
any help is appreciated. here’s my log file (truncated) with the error message and a test post that was retrieved:

I dont understand the problem, am i missing anything or it is by design that XMLRPC will return only 20 recent post.
]]>I am using out of box feature of wordpress RPC-XML.
I have checked the documentation or web regarding getting post under category or searching post via RPC-XML But no success.
I am using metaWeblog.getRecentPosts but it get most recent post, but not withing specified category. Is there a way to get post under specified category with metaWeblog.getRecentPosts or other methods. Is there a plugin which can help with enabling search capabilities with RPC-XML call.
Regards
Raj
since the update to version 2.3.2 the subscriber-role can’t get posts (getRecentPosts) through xmlrpc anymore. it works flawlessly when using any admin account, so this is (wordpress-)security related.
i’am using xmlrpc to read out the blog and display the entries in a flash application – so using the admin account is out of the question for this.
is this a bug or is this intended and stays that way in future releases? and is there a fast fix i can apply until the next release of wordpress?
thanks in advance!
