MaxMind GeoLite2 Installation Error

When I try to add the API Key to enable MaxMind GeoLite2 in WooCommerce I get this error:

Extraction from phar “/membri/.dummy/temp/geoip_download-UorUy4.tmp” failed: Cannot extract “GeoLite2-Country_20210831/GeoLite2-Country.mmdb” to “/membri/.dummy/temp/GeoLite2-Country_20210831/GeoLite2-Country.mmdb”, setting file permissions failed

This is because my hosting provider doesn’t allow me to access this path. Where can I change it? It’s not the database location, it looks like it’s a path for temp files extraction that is done during the download/installation of the database.

When is the next update? I have some issues that I could not fix. ERROR – WordPress could not update file(/var/www/html/wp-content/uploads/amazon-associates-link-builder/GeoLite2-Country.mmdb) for geo-targeted links feature, so these links may not work correctly. This file can be downloaded from here (https://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoLite2-Country.mmdb.gz)

Can someone please help me to fix this issue?

I’m running WordPress on GCP.

Things I tried,
* Changing the above file permission from 644 to 777, 755. (didn’t work)
* Increased storage space on the server. (didn’t work)

What else I can try? please help me, thanks

But I download and upload file to /wp-content/uploads/GeoLite2-Country.mmdb
Problem everytime exist – error, why ?

Quick Q.

Now that MaxMind released GeoLite2 and this plugin was updated to v2, the “legacy” functions are not using GeoLite Legacy, are they?

I understand GeoLite Legacy will not be updated further, do you know if that is correct?

Hi,

Nothing appears on the map and for the countries it says ‘unknown’. There was an error message when the plugin downloaded informing me of this. I don’t know anything about coding.

My boyfriend downloaded it for his website on the same day and it works fine for him.

Can you help me please ?
