language problem [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied

I had this warning just now

All file- and directory settings were right, however
The language files the-events-calendar-de_DE.mo did not yet exist.
So I MANUALLY COPIED the files from the subdirectory of the-events-calendar-plugin to the destination and then again updated the language files again and yes,
this time it worked.

I’m trying to upgrade 3.6 to 3.8 using the “Update Now” button.

Updates to other sites work OK on the same server.

Here’s the warning message:

Permissions are folder: 755, file: 644.

I’m not a PHP expert. It sounds as if it’s a coding problem. Can anyone help me fix this?

I’m having this problem with MULTIPLE installs of 3.3.2, and with MULTIPLE actions, including uploading a ZIPped theme and importing an archive from another WP blog (also running 3.3.2).

And yes, the permissions are correct, or even TOO open (777’d) on whatever folders and files I could find related to each issue, such as the folders and sub-folders for “wp-content”. “File.php” also has full permissions.

I’ve been using WP for a couple years now, many dozen sites, and this just started happeneing all over the place.

Not able to upload pics after upgrade to 3.3

Hello, I was a happy WP 3.1 user with no problems. I upgraded manually to 3.3 and was not able to upload any pictures since then. I have my own hosting with full root access. I found this error in the log:

I’ve changed folder /wp-content/uploads and all inside to user and group apache and set permissions to 777. That has not fixed the problem. Very Very disappointed so far with 3.3.
Any idea?

cannot re-install WP 3.0.1

I got hacked (via godaddy…) and then soon after getting things back my comments got messed up. I am not really good with wordpress or coding, but it seemed that a re-install of wordpress would fix stuff.

Also, I use comicpress, but that doesn’t seem to be the issue.

Anyway, I hit the “Re-install automatically” button under Dashboard –> upgrades.

I get the following error:
