I already created a new installation to a new Server
Tools > Export from old installation and Tools > Import in new installation is ok? Requires any additional migration eg. /wp-contents/ folder or … and … ? Or import database…?
my old theme – PHP 7.4 – I think is not compatible with WP 6.2.2 – PHP 8.2.1 – may a similar technology theme works better and equally well?
I followed the WordPress installation instructions here.
/var/www/html
https://example.com/wp-admin/install.php
localhost
and 127.0.0.1
in the host field and confirmed that my database table prefix is, in fact, the default wp_
.
I’ve done a ridiculous amount of Googling and searching these forums and I’m at a loss. I can’t get past the “Error establishing database connection” error message. I’ve also tried manually editing wp-config.php
and that has the same result.
I’ve consulted the guide to moving WordPress between servers, to make sure I didn’t do steps out of order. Since my domain and all file paths are exactly the same, I’m not seeing any explanation there.
I tried the default wp importer, it can import the post and pages easily, but I’m unable to import the media files (uploaded images) to my fresh installation with it. I can see that the media files are still calling from the old site.
So, I’m looking for a solution to transfer (export/import) everything properly from my old site to the new one.
Thanks!

/home/old_user/example.com/[site root here]
to this:
/home/new_user/example.com/[site root here]
I’ve deleted the plugin as well as all ‘itsec’ tables from the wp-database, but when I reinstall the plugin, somehow it’s still looking for things (like backups, logs, etc.) in the wrong location.
Any advice here?

As the old/original installation resides in the root, would it be best to create the new install in a subfolder or subdomain? Does it matter? In the long run, my Multisite installation will be a subDIRECTORY install.
I have learned my fair-share through Google as most of you and am worried this will be a daunting task, or at least take more time and effort than I originally thought.
What’s the best way to go about this? Is there anything I should be aware of? Are there any sites with resources that I may have missed and would be a good guide? All thoughts are welcome.
The issue is :
– When I chose some Bulk Actions like moving to trash several Articles in one shot, clicking on the Apply button lead me to a blank white page. The installation is fresh.
Are installed :
– WordPress 4.1
– Multisite activated (only 1 site currently running)
– iThemes Security activated
– Acunetix WP Security activated
– WPBackUp activated
– Multisite Language Switcher activated
– Theme : VIRTUE
All is freshly installed (yesterday) and updated.
I did not add any content to the default content yet. See : www.azam.world.
(I’am gonna add content today)
Any suggestion ?

I change wp-config-sample.php
-> wp-config.php
and set the keys, db info. Then when I tried accessing it, there are a bunch of database errors.

I also chmodded all files 644, all folders 755. Then chowned the whole public directory to www-data:www-data
which is the user running both php-fpm and nginx.
Im trying to move my site with the Invictus theme to a fresh installation & domain. It is all setup & ready to go but today I imported my posts from my old site & Im getting “No Entries Found”, yet all the posts show up in the sidebar under “recent posts”. I have tried to reset the permalinks & I have deleted the .htaccess file which hasn’t worked. I have just added a new test post, & that also only shows in the “recent posts” bar & not on the main page.

Any help appreciated at this point as I cant see what Im missing.
I get the error message, ‘Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible / Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [HTTP 500]. Ask your web host if they allow connections from WordPress.com. If you need further assistance, contact Jetpack Support: https://jetpack.me/support/’.
I have quite a few WordPress installations on the same server but different domains, and they all work fine. AFAIK I have used exactly the same procedure setting this one up as the others.
The xmlrpc.php file is present but when I call it from my web browser, I get a blank page. I see the site so I don’t believe it’s a DNS issue. I registered the domain last Friday and installed WordPress on Saturday.
I have no plug-ins other than Akismet, which I have put my API key in to: this is a fresh installation.
Hope you can point me in the right direction! I have read numerous pages here already (some for earlier versions) but nothing appears to fit my circumstances.
Kind regards,
Jack
