My client has been using Plausible with the WordPress plugin on their site for a few months. It’s been working great.
We’d like to start tracking file downloads. I see instructions here on how to add the correct script to the site: https://plausible.io/docs/file-downloads-tracking
Can the file-download feature be added or managed with the WordPress plugin? Should I just remove the plugin and add the script to the site header manually?
thanks,
Clare
]]>I have been using WP Download Manager so far to do this, but if there is another add-on with PM Pro that would be helpful as well.
]]>Here is what happens:
The site is rendered useless and instead whenever you go to the domain or happen to click any link on the site, a file is automatically downloaded. No matter what you do, go to admin, a wordpress file downloads.
We suspect it is something in our server configuration but cannot find anything about the topic. Again this happens anytime we go beyond php 5.4, on any wordpress site we host.
]]>I’ve had MonsterInsights installed for a few months, and had the PDF tracking option set to display PDF downloads as pageviews. I was checking analytics for March, and my PDF views have decreased from 600-700 to 13.
When looking at the app, I noticed that I was using PHP tracking instead of JS tracking, would this have had any effect, or what else could have caused this?
Thanks,
]]>I’ve used PayPal Digital Downloads for two clients on self-hosted WordPress sites and it is fabulous for downloadable media tied directly to PayPal payments.
It takes a bit of paying attention to details for the installation and setup with PayPal, more an issue with PayPal than with the Plugin, though the documentation could be improved to be a little more specific when it comes to identifying the right PayPal API SIGNATURE to get to link the two.
Once connected to PayPal through the API setup, simply upload your digital media and copy the upload URL location in the WordPress Media Library, create or edit a post or Page and place your cursor where you want the purchase button to appear. Then click the button next to Add Media and enter the information about the digital file and the URL. Snap. Done. Fabulous.
I’d give it a 5 save for the bit of frustration with the API setup (just improve the documentation to be a bit clearer on which cert to get with PayPal) and the inability to upload the file directly from within the post or Page. That extra step causes my clients some frustration, and I have to step in and remind them of that extra step if a couple months goes by between uploads.
But the tie-in through the PayPal API is fabulous and makes it ideal for handling one or more digital downloads.
Thanks for the fantastic work and support on this!

I’ve recently upgraded EDD and now all download links force send one file, the first one I’ve added in EDD. This only applies to forced downloads, if I switch to redirect it works fine — each download receives the correct file. Seems like associations are broken somewhere in the database for forced downloads.
What can I do?
Lastest WordPress & EDD, PHP 5.6.
Thanks.

Any help to resolve this would be appreciated.
Thanks
