Error connecting to database

I have suddenly lost access to my webiste.

I have no idea what happened. It is hosted by a friend who bullt the site for me and he has no idea what happened either.

Presumably the site hasbeen deleted from the server?

How can I get up and running again, as I cannot even log into wp-admin to start rebuuilding.

When i tried opening the site I got the “Error connecting to Database” message and went to check database name and passwords and these seemed to be in order. I then went to mywebsite.com/wp-admin/maint/repair.php and found an error in table on wp-options which read wp-options:rows changed from 0 – 1320
Please help

DB Connection Errors: Apache Max Childre, or PHP Max Memory

Hi champs
I intermittently get Error connecting to database errors on the site frontend. Although connecting the wp-admin isn’t a problem really.
I have increases Apache PHP Max memory, phpini max memory, Apache Max children.
My max children is running at about 42 for https://dog-bed.com.au, or 2.8 Mb RAM per request, and 8 for https://pooch-care.com or 2.8 Mb RAM per request.
But, im still have Error connecting to database intermittently.
I am stumped to what is wrong with my setup. Do i keep playing with Max children setting?
As a start, how much memory would a usual WP setup require per child?
I have about 20 plugins installed across the two domains.
Am i on the right path recalculating max children settings? Or could it be something else im missing?
Please can someone chime in on this? Eventually my partners patience will wear thin, and our DB Error will cause what is potentially money in the bank to fade away in to a failed business practice.

DB Error connecting, packets too big

Hi champs
My Fluent SMTP Is causing a DB Error connecting to database.
With cpanel.net saying its a wordpress issue, not cpanel core.
So i disabled all plugins one by one, and Fluent SMTP is the culprit.
Anyone can fix Fluent SMTP? DO i contact them directly?

Simple Sales Tax Database update doesn’t complete

The database update doesn’t ever really update, and leaving on the Simple Sales Tax plugin eventually results in “Error Connecting to Database” issues for all site visitors.

I have a screenshot, but it looks like I can not post screenshots attached… so here’s a link:

Error establishing a database connection

My ISP suspended my blog because they found malware and stuff. I deleted the files they found and now:

I was not given an opportunity to backup my wp.

I did download the files.

Starting with a fresh install, I tried and failed to insert wp-content.

Trying to connect with my old database has failed.

I can’t even get to the wp shell.

Any suggestions that actually work. I want my blog back.

I have a multisite network with 7 sites running, recently some of the non mapped sites (using sub folder) including logging into the admin come up with an error connecting to database, nothing that I can see has changed.

Has anyone else experienced this and if they fixed it how?

upgrading mysql & php

I have my own server with several sites for different users, most all are WordPress sites

I tried updating mysql and php to latest versions but received Error connecting to Database for all sites

reason being for main site, the following is displayed for a main plugin in dashboard:
The minimum required MySQL version is 5.6 – your server has 5.5.44
The recommended PHP version is 7 or higher – your server has 5.6.8

thus I’m afraid to purchase additional plugins which may force update of both mysql and php which would cause a loss of use for all sites including an historic military site for a user.

what is the best way to update all sites before or after update of both php and mysql?
for now, I’ve backed up and exported content for all sites, some of which are using default WordPress themes, but others have custom themes.

Encountered Error with Fresh 4.2 Multisite Install

Hey there,

I recently purchased dedicated hosting space so that I could set up an wordpress multisite. I created a wildcard subdomain in cPanel and followed the instructions to the “T” in the wordpress documentation for setting up Multi-site.

That said, I’m getting really weird problems! My MySQL database has a user with “ALL” permissions, yet when I do the steps to create new sites inside my Multisite:
1. I get an empty entry in the dashboard dropdown underneath my main site. (As if it sees a site, but won’t show it’s name)
2. I click on the “Dashboard” and it just keeps bringing me to the default site’s dashboard.
3. When I go to “subdomain.mysite.com” I get a “Cannot Connect to Database” error.
4. When I do a repair on the DB it tells me that I’m missing tables and that it can’t create them.

My theory is that the newest release of wordpress has an issue creating the tables for new sites in Multisite, and I’m truly at a loss for getting it to work.

I spent 8 hours today searching all the issues with installing Multi-site and have never come across this issue in this fashion. Usually, people have incorrect permissions for creating tables in their DB or something.
