Hi,

For a client we have implemented wp super cache on a wordpress multisite (subdirectory based) running on nginx
With the latest wordpress version (5.3.2) we’re getting ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED accompanied by a white page on requesting cached pages.

Is there anything we can do to remedy this issue?

GZIP Headers Issue

Greetings,

I am using your plugin for the first time and love the ease of use and the speed I am getting with minimal configuration!

I am having a recurring issue that I am not sure how to solve. In some browsers, they throw an error on my pages:

Error loading page: Content Encoding Error (net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED)

Turns out it is sending GZIP content headers, but the content is not GZIPPED. I checked my .htaccess and the GZIP settings from Hummingbird were not present. So, I added them manually and cleared the cache to retest. This solved the issue for a moment. But after some time, I get more reports from clients that they are getting this error.

I do not get the error directly on my Mac in any browser, but on a Windows machine I do get it. I also get it testing in GTMetrix.com. So, I go and clear the cache again and it works. I am not sure why it will not permanently work and keeps reverting to this error.

Any ideas?

Hi Folks,

I published a post, and the post viewed fine in the browser.

I experimented with adding a custom field to Divi’s single.php, but I received a Chrome error when viewing the post

This site can’t be reached

ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED:

I renamed single.php to single.temp.php, but the ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED error remains.

I have cleared the WP Super Cache cache, and the browser cache, and the Cloudflare cache, and the issue remains.

Chrome Error: err_content_decoding_failed

I just installed Better WordPress Minify, and I’m getting an intermittent “err_content_decoding_failed” message when I view my site. I’m using Chrome, and from my research it seems to be some kind of gzip/encoding issue. However, my server should have gzip enabled, and everything *should* be working fine with that.

In Chrome it will flash the error, and then usually load the page a second or two later. In Internet Explorer, it just says “This page can’t be displayed” – but hitting “Refresh” will load the page.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I have recently begun using W3 Total Cache, set up by our one-time one developer. When I create new pages (using Optimize Press 2.0 version), new users receive this error message: Error code: ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED

Once they refresh, they are able to see the information.

What is the issue?
