PDF ticket showing garbled Chinese characters

I have installed The Events Calendar, The Events Calendar Pro, Event Tickets, and Event Tickets Plus plugins. When issuing tickets, they come with a PDF attachment. However, the PDF shows garbled characters (see image).

How can I resolve this encoding issue? Is there any specific configuration needed for non-English (Chinese) character support in the PDF generation?

Problem with encoding in AI responses

Hi, thanks for the great plugin.

During use, some encoding issues were noticed in AI responses. The site is in Ukrainian, and Ukrainian is also selected in the plugin settings. The instructions for the AI ??indicate that you need to respond in the user’s language. Periodically, the AI ??responses were in Unicode format. It looked like this: u041du0430 u0436u0430u043bu044c. The solution was found with the help of AI )

Replacing strings in plugin files.

Find string

WordFence shows garbage text

Hi. I just migrated a site to its new server. Went to edit a page and couldn’t save it – 403 error. Checked WordFence (free) and all pages are displaying garbage looking text like some encoding or something is wrong. I wanted to put it back in learning mode but unable to without being able to read. Many labels are readable but not any text. Deactivated WF and was able to edit site and save again. Checked dev site, WF is exactly the same there! Different server, different host.

Anyone know what to do. The migration popped up an error about text encoding and this may be related. I selected the default offering (utf-8 I think) so maybe that was wrong. All else seems fine though. I do not know where to even change that setting!

EDIT – Sorry this seems to be a problem only in Chrome browser. In Safari and Firefox all is good!

Encoding issues (strange characters appearing)

Hello,

We are not sure why or how but in the past week our site has had some strange characters appearing throughout. There seems to be three sets of these characters:

The character ? appears in random places
Anything with an accent or apostrophe uses strange characters (Aprenda ingl?as com futebol)
The Japanese/Chinese pages now look like this: PODCAST/?��-??��

We have contacted our host (A2) but they have not been able to help us. We have also looked online for suggestions and have tried the following (unsuccessfully):

Switched off themes and plug ins
The host team switched the encoding to utf-8 in our wp-config (but no luck)
In online discussions we were told to find and change the code but we were unable to find anything on the wp-config page: define(��DB_CHARSET��, ��utf8��);define(��DB_COLLATE��, ��);and either remove the ��utf8�� string so the first line becomes: define(��DB_CHARSET��,��); define(��DB_COLLATE��, ��);
In the wp-config-sample page there was some code like this and I adapted it to utf-8 but still no good.

Sorry we are not experts in this (clearly!) but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Japanese converted to ????

I’ve discovered that some old posts on my blog containing Japanese have been converted to mojibake, and when I attempt to replace the Japanese with the correct text, Japanese is converted to “????” (a string of question marks) immediately after I hit the Update button.

I tried disabling all my plugins in case that might somehow be involved; no change.

I noticed that my config file showed the encoding as “utf8mb4”; changing that to utf8 did not help.

Getting “> character prefix on some emails

Some of the encoded email address text is correct, but some have a “> prefix. The link text is correct and does not have this prefix. When I disable Email Encoder, the email text does not have the prefix.
