Empty Spam Button Redirects to My Homepage

About three weeks ago, the Empty Spam button on my blogs stopped working. Clicking it no longer deletes spam messages but redirects me to my homepage instead. I get the same behavior if I click the checkbox to select all comments on the current screen, select Delete Permanently from the dropdown menu and click the Apply button.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

– Disabled all (yes, all) of my few plugins and retried
– Switched to the 2015 theme and retried
– Clicked the Re-install Now button from the Updates section of my Dashboard
– Manually deleted and reuploaded all of the blog files

I suspect this is something with my webhost, but searching here and elsewhere didn’t turn up any potential leads. I suspect this because I’m having another issue with them that came up while I was troubleshooting this one. I use the Jetpack plugin on this website and when I reactivated it after testing with it deactivated, I couldn’t get Jetpack to reconnect to my blog. Jetpack support suggests my blog is inaccessible via cURL.

I’m trying to get that resolved with my webhost. Could it be contributing to this?

Any suggestion on other things I could try?

I can manually delete each spam message one at a time, for what that’s worth.

Empty Spam Button Leads to 403 Forbidden Error

I’m using version 3.1.3 of Akismet.

When I log in as an admin and go Comments -> Spam, then click the Empty Spam button, I get a page with a 403 error. I can delete spam comments individually, but when I try to bulk delete them, I get the 403 error just as with the Empty Spam button.

I’m running the most recent version of the Twenty Ten theme, and I tried disabling all plugins, but I still get the 403.

I checked my /public_html/.htaccess, and tried commenting out everything but the WordPress section, but no joy.

I also tried deleting the .htaccess in the Akismet plugin folder temporarily, but that still didn’t help.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

In the “Right Now” box on the Dashboard, it shows the number of spam comments.. I don’t always want to delete all my spam, but sometimes, after a while of ignoring it, it gets up to a couple hundred spam comments, and I don’t even want to look through them. It would be nice to have an “Empty All Spam” trash can button right there in that box off the dashboard, so I didn’t have to even go to the spam folder to see a hundred or more comments i’m not going to view anyway. I can do it with three clicks, clicking on “Spam”, “Empty Spam”, and then one more to get back to the Dashboard, but it sure would be convenient to have one right there on the dashboard…

W3 Total cache Plugin – Internal Server Error

Hi I have installed for 3 months now w3 total cache plugin and my website is surely faster. The issue I am having with the plugin though is that inside the admin panel whenever I try to empty spam (200-3000) i get an internal server error and I have to go back and redo the process but only 20-50 comments gets deleted each time. Also when I try to update a draft sometimes, I also get internal server error.

I have tried to increase my php memory to 128M and execution time from 30 to 60.

But I still have this issue which is pretty annoying.

I’ve also taken a look at my HTCACESS FIle but I can’t see anything strange since I am not familiar with this type of files.

using easel theme, since 2.8 (?), at some point log in returns 404 (but) I am logged in. The url for the 404 is domaindotcom/wpfolder/wpfolder/ – which should be domaindotcom/wpfolder/wp-admin/

Now the admin bar is up on the top so I just click dashboard or other links. All working.

The other thing that’s happening is “empty spam” or “select-all/delete” (spam comments) takes me to my site’s error page (not the wordpress 404 page like login does)

Checked settings in phpMyAdmin, all set that I know how to set.

trying to “Empty Spam” – getting Error 500 Internal Server Error

Hi, I noticed my database was growing too large, and then discovered I have 30,000+ comments marked as “spam” but not permanently deleted. I believe this is obviously the problem of my too-big database.

However, when I go to “Empty Spam” all I get is an Error 500 Internal Server Error.

If anyone can help me with this, it is appreciated!
