I have rollback with my restore backup and media library is ok after this restore.
I retested 1 time more but same.

is this a known issue? and if not, someone has an idea or could help me?

I am using the latest version of WordPress 5.5.1, running the VideoPro theme.

When I originally installed the theme, it was recommended to populate it with the provided sample data. After setting up the site, I attempted to delete the sample data because it was filling up the server when backups were performed. I also deactivated the plugin that kept adding the data back into the site.

In the File Manager I can see lots of images from the sample data still in the folders, organized by year/month.

Previously, these sample images in the upload folder were shown in the media library.

Now, I see that images in the upload folder won’t load in media library.

I uploaded a new image today, and this image does *not* show in the list, either.

I now have *NO* images shown in the Media Library.

Question: How can I get the images to appear in the Media Library as before?

p.s. This site has had persistent issues with loading slowly, and even the Site Health Status does not complete looking at the site (spinning ball).

1. Empty Media library.
When all dates are sellected in media library, no images are shown, but when you click on a month, any month except July 2019, media show up. This happens only on grid mode. On list mode everything seems to work fine. Persmissions on July month folder are 755.
2. Cannot upload images.
I am trying to upload a new image and get the error “Error uploading try again later”. In list view the image is shown but with a grey thumbnail, but no checkbox to select it. Checking the image’s url, i found out that image is uploaded to the server and showing correctly in browser. Still July folder is blank.
3. Insert images to post
Exactly the same thing happens when i try to insert image to a post. I can insert an image uploaded already, except images uploaded month July. I cannot upload any images.

I like Polylang a lot! And it worked fine up to now.

I have created the English version of an existing Hungarian Page. In this new English Page when I want to add an image, the Media Library seems to be empty, however, there are many images there.
Interesting thing: when I switch off the Polylang plugin, and I return editing the new Page, it shows all the media files in the Library!
Activating again the Polylang plugin makes the Library empty, again.

This seems to be true to all (well, I have checked only some of them) similarily created (translated to English) Pages.
On the other hand, it seems, that in the original Hungarian Pages the Library works well.
The images already inserted in the Hungarian version, as well (copied in text version) are working fine…

So, I would think, there is a conflict within Polylang.

Scary! When in a Page, willing to add a picture… the Media Library is shown EMPTY. However, of course, there are many images in it!
Interesting: in other Pages, however, I can easily insert new media.

I have 2 languages in the site: Hungarian and English.
They are handled by Polylang 1.7.8.
And I use Insert Pages 2.7.1, as well.

How can I see the “hidden” media files?

I try change permission from 644 to 7555 but nothing. Help me pls.

All the files are there but I can’t access them from the dashboard. Obviously the pointer to the files is pointing to outer space. The upload pointer is correct.

Most of the media files are showing up on the website but not all.

Maybe I should join the SETI program and scan for aliens?

Any clue how I can redirect the pointer so the dashboard media library shows up?

I would cross my fingers but one of the cockatoos might nip me for that! This is not the day to buy a lottery ticket
