Poor Support Experience with Groundhogg CRM

I purchased Groundhogg CRM and it worked relatively well for several months. Then a software update came out for the plugin and it suddenly stopped working. Specifically, it didn’t communicate with the cron service that Groundhogg recommended. Groundhogg claimed my host blocked the external cron job service.

My host and I configured a server-side cron job and Groundhog still failed, which means that Groundhogg’s excuse that their service failed because my host blocked the cron job was not the issue.

The response from Groundhogg took several days and two tickets, and was rather hit or miss for about a week. They blamed my host. They blamed my cache plugin. They blamed my installation, but that was vague and never specified if it was WordPress or Groundhogg’s implementation that they blamed.

What they never considered or addressed was whether the software update caused an issue. Sadly, they never fixed the problem and I had to use another service.

Posts about this issue on their Facebook Support Group (which they link to from their web site as a support group) were deleted, with the excuse that my issues may turn off some new buyers and Groundhogg had to manage their reputation.

So let my experience be a warning to you. Your business is not at the front of mind for Groundhogg. It’s all about their reputation, not customer success.

multiple groups for multiple subscribers

With over 8000 subscribers, I need to regroup them in about 20 groups.
Some groups are sub-groups of higher groups.
Some subscribers are in multiple groups.
Some notifications or newsletters will be sent out to multiple groups.
I also have an existing contract with an email service. How do I connect with them ?

Cloud Hosting for WordPress Multisite

Hi guys,

I need your beautiful minds to help me find the right option on a host.
I want to host it in South Africa, as that is where my clients would be, if it would make any kind of difference.

Plan

I want to start a WordPress Multi-site, where I can host more that one site with different domains.
I want to start a couple of blogs of my own, and
Build a couple demo sites for potential clients, and
host them on my multi-site installation if they wish to do so.

Questions

Is cloud hosting the right option?
Who do I host with? – At this moment Afrihost seems to be the best option, but their sales pages doesn’t give a lot of information.
Managed or self managed?
This question might be best left to the service provider but… How would I manage my clients’ domain specific email addresses?

Answer all, or answer some. All information and opinions are welcome.

Changing my email service

I’m transitioning from Get Response to Icontact. I have everything set fine on the plugin, but the form on my website is still going to the old Get Response account. How do I get it to move to my new account? I’ve even deleted all the information in the Get Response area, “Icontact” is selected as my service, and all the data is entered correctly.

We have already got a mail server. How do we set up our mail server with WordPress so people can sign up and use it free, like Yahoo or Google?

email and ping service settings not available in admin panel

hello,
I am using wp 3.0 multi site feature – upgraded from wp mu.

In the admin section: settings –> writing there should be the settings available for the email and ping services. both is not visible and not there in my installation.

where I can activate it?
