I have checked off “Can edit their profile” under General Permissions and have “Can access wp-admin” checked as well.
The user is a faculty member AND can create and publish posts – so they need to show up in the member directory, but have a unique role of creating content.
I want to keep it as simple as possible. The new role can create posts, which is perfect, but they can’t edit their profile fields.
I’ve messed around with role priority from here: https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/1494-how-to-set-role-priority-for-user-roles with the 2 roles – Member and Event+Updates Manager(this one is also a member)
]]>I installed this plugin and tested it as an admin and as a test user I registered as an author. On the frontend, as an admin, I was able to use WP User Manager to change my nickname and then set the “set display name to” the nickname I created.
However, when I tried the same thing as an author, I could not change the nickname. After I changed it and clicked on “Update Profile”, the name does not change even though a message says “Profile successfully updated.”. It only changes if I log out and log back in, or if I attempt to change it on the WordPress backend profile area.
Can you help?
]]>My 1st question is: How do I automatically assign a new member to a group after email verification and deny membership of all other groups?
A Type 1 group membership is of no use to a Type 2 user. I need to remove the ‘Join Group’ option for all groups as group allocation needs to be automatic. I also need to remove the option for people to leave a group. The group defines what they can do on the site and they only have the one group to be a part of. However, I do not want the groups to be invisible to each other. I need members to be able to interact between groups.
My 2nd Question is: I would like to have a newsboard on my home page that would show all the latest posts on peoples’ profile pages allowing comments etc (sort of Facebook style). How can I achieve this?
I have downloaded a really nice Profile Template (thank you) but would like to edit it. It is the Profile number 3 template. I need to remove the Personal Identifiable Information (Full name, email etc) from this template, and add other features. My 3rd (and last, I promise) question is: How can I do this?
Many thanks in anticipation
John

I may add that I use the NEVE theme. And on the other hand I have at least 6-7 other websites with Neve and UM together where all works correctly. What kind of conflict there could be here?
Thanks in advance for any hints or suggestions
]]>Although it’s working fine, it does not allow the user to use an email address as their username. So, how can I…
A. allow users to enter an email address for their user_login? or
B. hook onto the form submission and copy the user_email address entered into the user_login field?
Thanks for your help!
]]>I am using the Ultimate Member free plugin. Once a user has registered, their profile page is showing fine with a default photo. However, if they choose to edit their profile, specifically their profile image, it is not working. I would like to be able to use this feature.
It will allow the user to choose an image and select upload.
It then freezes at the end of the upload with a full green bar (see below).
I have checked in the WP-Content/Upload/UM folder and the image is being uploaded under “profile_photo_temp.jpeg”. However, it is getting stuck and not changing from this screen. It just sticks on the image above without being able to crop the image or select apply.
Do you have any suggestions on how I can correct this?
Is it to do with file permissions? File size limit seems okay and the image is loading as temporary. Any guidance appreciated. Thanks.
