I’m using the Ecto theme on my self-hosted blog, and I wondered, actually, how is the menu designed to work when viewing the site on a mobile device (iPhone, for example)?
Currently, when viewing the website/theme on an iPhone or smaller device, pressing the “menu” button opens the menu underneath the header image – which is nearly out of the viewport. One of my users complained that she can’t see the menu on her device.
I’ve read the Ecto notes and it doesn’t actually state how the menu should appear when used on a device with a smaller screen.
Is this how it should work? Or, should the menu open up from the top of the screen, over the top of the header image but in what would be a more usable fashion in the viewport?

]]>The latest message I get is: “XML-RPC services are disabled on this site. An admin user can enable them at https://katyloves.com/wp-admin/options-writing.php”
But there’s no Remote Services option in that section. No check box that all the other posts say to check. Any ideas?
]]>I would be grateful for some guidance – I have just started a blog on WP and would like to play around with the font style and size. I understand from reading other forums that I need to edit the CSS for this – ie the ‘font family’. At the moment the font family is ‘inherit’ – I tried changing this at the top of the CSS and nothing changed. Do I need to change the font family more then once in the CSS? Can you enter any font you can find or does it have to be one of the more common ones?
Also, how do you go about adding in icons or graphics next to things like the page names?
And can someone explain to me whether Ecto software would be useful for the above, and what this consists of?
Lastly, on the homepage how do you get rid of the title ‘Pages’ above things like ‘about me’ / ‘contact’ etc?
I realise this is a lot of questions and is probably a bit cheeky, but I dont know anyone I can ask, and I am determined to learn how to do these things myself in the future.
Thanks in advance!
]]>I have used ecto for a long time. but today, when i publish my post, the sever modified my original post. just like:
I wrote:
testing
and after i publish, the server version is:
ptesting/p
when i added a picture, ecto told me there are differences between the local and the server versions:
<img img src=”https://xxxxxxxxxx.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/pps-2011-9-15-1551336.jpg” width=”600″ height=”450″ alt=”pps 2011-9-15 15’51’33.jpg” />/
I know the html was wrong, but it was modified by the server! I didnt change anything, no idea what is going on. Please help me
Thanks.

]]>But it’s more complicated:
1) Previously I used Blog Client “Ecto” to author all of my posts, include links, photos, etc. Since upgrading to OS X 10.7 (Lion) the Ecto app is a bit kluge. so I have resorted using the online admin of WordPress.
2) With my new posts (the last two on my site) when I try to click the “chain” link icon and then add a URL and title, upon hitting update WordPress returns me to the list of posts and not the post I was just editing.
3) If I go to an older post that I authored using the Ecto blog front end client, I am able to use the link tool and create a hyper link.
So I know that the browser does support the feature. However, it is only allowing me to create links in older posts. Not a post that I just authored from scratch using WordPress Admin Dashboard.
This is too bizarre.
Thoughts?
]]>Tags with spaces in them end up separated as multiple tags on both ends.
It doesn’t matter if i create the tag on the WP site, or in ecto.
So, for example, I tag a post with the following tag: “This is fun”
I can compose and tag a post on the WP site or in ecto, and at the first sync, ecto syncs it up as the complete tag: “This is fun”. If i then edit the post and push it to WP from ecto, in addition to the original tag, it also becomes tagged with “This”, “is” and “fun”, which then become tags on the WP site, which get pulled back down into ecto. Now i have a post in ecto (and on the WP site tagged as: “This is fun”, as well as the individual words “This”, “is”, and “fun”. These additional tags also show up in ecto’s tag list. What a mess.
Hyphenating the tag: “This-is-fun” would probably fix it, but that just looks bad. I have a feeling ecto is treating the tag ‘name’ as its ‘slug’ and when it sees spaces assumes that’s a delimiter and sees each word as a seperate tag.
this phenomenon does not appear to happen with categories, only post tags.
Anyone seen this or have a fix?
]]>Somewhat of a rookie using wordpress so .
No idea what version of wordpress im using, a friend set up a domain for me with a blogging function. I have been logging on online.
That is working fine, accessing and all that.
Now: I want to use Ecto to write my posts offline.
Using Ecto 3 (I think) I want to access my blog.
Using the assistant it should be a no-brainer?
Choosing wordpress in the first dropdown.
Typing in blogg.henkebunk.se (yup, should be with 2 g’s)
username/password – same as in the wp-login
and then I get a bad pass/username error message.
Where do I go wrong?? This should be super basic!
Thanks
]]>A client requested to use ecto with the latest wordpress.
I’ve turned on xml-rpc already as well as boosted his role to administrator privelidges for posting.
I’ve also consulted the wordpress documentation but there is no specific setup information for the ecto client.
Any ideas what the cause maybe?
