I have a www.remarpro.com site hosted on a 3rd party site (DotEasy) and I am trying to connect to IFTTT.
My site’s home page displays all ‘posts’ so I am entering that as my blog url: “mywebsitename.com”. I have tried including “https://” “www” “mywebsitename.com/wp-admin” etc etc.
I continue to receive the errors:
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I’m sure I am overlooking something. Thank you!!
]]>Just through experimenting and getting my feet wet, I accidentally changed the domain names in WordPress to an already existing domain. After several Google and WordPress FAQ searches, I’m fairly confident I was able to change the domain names back through phpMyAdmin in the “siteurl” and “home” sections of wp_options. However, in the process of realizing I could do that I also downloaded an installation of WordPress and tried to manually edit the wp-config-sample.php file to a wp-config.php file to fix it that way. What I currently have is as follows (private info deleted):
*/
define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘cowancreekmusic_org_-_databasename’);
/** MySQL database username */
define(‘DB_USER’, ‘databaseusername’);
/** MySQL database password */
define (‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘databasepass’);
/** MySQL hostname */
define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’);
/**
I’ve tried every combination of username, domain_org_-_databasename, database name, memberID, member password and MySQL Doteasy host information that I can think of. I’ve entered 127.0.0.1, locahost, dprhcp108.doteasy.com, msql01:2083 and msql05:2083 (pretty sure I’m running mySQL version 5) into the DB_HOST line and I’m still getting a database connection error. phpMyAdmin says in the upper-left hand corner that my database is running on localhost, but it’s still not working for me.
I’m not sure if I’ve screwed something up by trying to change the domain names in phpMyAdmin or if me trying to create this wp-config file is the issue – pretty sure it’s the latter though. Anybody have any thoughts? One idea (a very horrible and terrifying idea) I had was maybe deleting my installation of WordPress and my wp-config file off of my laptop – like I said, the website existed beforehand and was created by someone else, so maybe that’s somehow interfering with something and causing the error. I was too afraid of jeopardize the website to do that on my own though.
Help?? Thanks in advance!
]]>“Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the katrinagurr_com_-_katrina2_database database.
Are you sure it exists?
On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?”
How would I go about fixing this?
]]>Any hope getting my website from my former hosting company?
]]>I already have a registered domain name with DotEasy and have hosted my site with them for a few years on their free hosting plan and have been very happy. But I recently I decided I wanted to overhaul and simplify this site using a very nice WordPress custom theme I found (make it easier to use and update for I have only basic web knowledge) and that is where I have begun running into problems.
I started going through the set-up steps via Word Press and got to the point where it requires that my host use use MySQL, and then when I looked into it I saw that I would need to upgrade my account with DotEasy and thus begin paying $6.95 a month. I sadly do not have the money right now for this, so my question is this:
Is there any way around this? Is there any other way I can use this beautiful custom theme on WordPress if my host doesn’t let me use MySQL? Can I find cheaper hosting or MySQL access elsewhere? I’ve just been looking at DreamHost Apps and cannot figure out if it’s a viable (free) solution or not…
Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!
]]>I am trying to setup wordpress for my website hosted by doteasy.net. When I create a database, it names the database mymemberid_databasename. How would I go about entering this in the installation config file?
I have tried the following under database name:
mydomain_-_databasename
mydomain_-_mymemberid_databasename
databasename
mymemberid_databasename
I get the response: “Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost.”
Doteasy wordpress reference: https://www.doteasy.com/support/tutorials/WordPress/
hostname: dprhcp108.doteasy.com
Any suggestions?
]]>Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the badmood_net_-_blog_db database.
This is normal. But then when i created the database with the name “badmood_net_-_blog_db” i started having an error 500 message, when trying to access https://www.badmood.net/blog/wp-admin/install.php with the firefox.
Can annybody help this newby?
Thanx
The detailed error message was:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache/2.0.51 (Fedora) Server at www.sample.com Port 80
To resolve this problem, you need to increase the memory available to PHP. You have to put in a support ticket with the doteasy.com support department asking them to increase the amount of memory available to PHP. They will need to modify php.ini to allow 16M of memory (it is probably set to 8M).
Trying to use .htaccess to do this did not solve the problem–you have to contact doteasy.com support.
]]>I have contacted tech support at Doteasy and have been told the following: “After further investigation, it appears that there was a bug on your scripts causing the instability with the server performance. We will submit a request to have the PHP enabled for you. However, please make sure that your update your WordPress scripts to patch this bug once the PHP is re-enabled.
Please note that if the scripting issue remains unresolved, we may be disabling the PHP feature for the site to protect the server performance where your account is hosted on.”
I am REALLY hoping someone else has run into ( and more importantly — solved) this script bug issue, and can direct me to the solution.
The version of WordPress I am using is the latest stable release (Version 2.1.3).
