I’m going to change the existing domain name of my website like this:
My existing domain name is:
https://mywebsite.com
This is the new domain name I would like to use:
https://mywebsites.com
I can’t afford to have a disaster on my website… too stressful.
Can it be possible to do that without damaging the website?
]]>From the Nelio standpoint, it looks like most of the puzzle will be to replicate the existing Nelio plugin settings on the new site once we’ve migrated the posts.
However, I’m not sure how to handle the calendar. I see that there is a way to export the calendar as a CSV, but I don’t see a way to then re-import the calendar on the new site.
What is the best way to do this? Is there anything else we should be aware of with this type of migration and your plugin?
Thank you!
]]>I changed the domain name in plesk and renamed the wordfence plugin so that its not trying to include the waf file anymore but the file with the wrong path is stil an issue and it crashes the site. Can anybody helP?. I lose a lot of time on this. Your software is not prepared for a domain name change. It makes it highly complicated
]]>I changed the domain in the General>Settings section, and wanted to follow with editing the Htaccess file via FTP (host: www.eremorupecava.com). However, the message I received from Filezilla was:
Status: TLS connection established.
Command: USER *******
Response: 331 User ******* OK. Password required
Command: PASS ***********
Response: 530 Login authentication failed
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server
(the credentials are correct, and of course trying www.eremorupecava.org does not work).
The situation now is that the site www.eremorupecava.com shows a (scrambled) welcome page that I cannot access; if I try https://www.eremorupecava.com/wp-login.php the page asks for credentials, but after providing them the url changes instantly to https://www.eremorupecava.org/wp-login.php and the browser does not find it.
I made a backup of the site via e-mail, but I do not know how to restore it.
Can anybody help me?
]]>I’m leery to configure Yoast on the new website until it’s on the proper/live domain, lest it keep records of the old domain in it’s database somewhere, or worse yet – to connect dots between my content and the “staging” domain instead of the real one.
Are my fears reasonable? Or can/should I configure Yoast on the staging site (with the wrong domain name), but answering setup wizard questions as if it were on the proper domain?
I’d like to use Yoast as I’m writing initial pages/posts.
TL;DR – will it hurt me to install/configure Yoast on a staging site (on an incorrect domain)?
]]>I have just finished developing this website for a client but the client would like to redirect the site to a new domain name.
Please note that the new is a domain name only and the website files are physically hosted (and will remain as such) on the domain.
Before Christmas, the client set up the redirect from their web host admin panel, which broke the site completely (the frontend worked but there was no access to the wp-admin dashboard), so it was reverted. They want to give it another try again now.
Is there anything that I can do to ensure that this works this time around? What do I need to change in order to redirect to the new domain name successfully?
Kind regards
Anthony
