I created a staging site and I couldn’t figure out how to get it to work so I deleted it. Somehow I deleted the content of my orginal site as well (no I did not push it live) Anyway after speaking with Bluehost they were able to help me somewhat but I’m still not able to restore my content. They walked me through double checking that there were no changes to my host obviously, domain, or server.
I expected the backup to be restored successfully on my current setup, which has the same domain, host, and server as the original site.
Instead of a successful restoration, I received an error message stating that the backup cannot be restored due to domain, host, and server restrictions. The error indicates that the backup requires being restored on the exact same domain, host, and server as the original, but it appears to be failing despite my setup being consistent with these requirements.
Browser: Google Chrome
Operating System: Windows 10
Hosting Provider: Bluehost
PHP Version: 8.3.6 (as listed in my WPStaging environment details)
I’m at a loss on how to move forward as I don’t want to purchase a pro version because I don’t need it. Why is it not restoring? Please advise on how I can proceed with restoring the backup under these circumstances. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
]]>Complete Nube here but have fumbled my way though to finishing or almost finishing my first WP site. I currently have the site www.niagarabarber.com hosted with hostgator. Today we bought 2 domains and hosting package through godaddy. www.barbersedge.ca and www.thebarbersedge.ca.
I had mistakenly thought that I bought www.barbersedge.com, and turns out that I purchased www.barbersedges.com.
I went into my admin dashboard and under general where the URL settings are. I replaced both URL settings that were niagarabarber.com, to barbersedge.com.
it gave me an error message, my computer froze and I rebooted. when I log on to the website now it is redirecting me to hugedomains to buy barbersedge.com for $2200 (yikes)
Also, the website has been altered in terms of its appearance. Its skewed all over the place and I can see the hugedomains logo.
of course I dont have a backed up folder on my computer of all the files (yes I know) and am locked out and without resolution right now.
Can someone please help me get my website back?
sorry if this is repeated but I read every post i could find on the login topics and nothing was a similar issue.
Thanks everyone
]]>1. Her domain www.DNTagency.com which apparently was hosted with Wild Wild West (She and I are both unsure of how this company became the host) has expired. She didn’t receive the emails to renew so the deadline passed.
2. Her emails filter through Gmail, and these still work even though the domain has expired (Ex. [email protected]) How is this possible?
3. You can see a copy of her original site layout here before I went in and did a re-design (https://dntpublicrelations.wordpress.com), which also had the dntagency.com domain pointed here.
4. When I went in to revamp the site, I went through Bluehost.com (had a temp domain and then I thought I transferred the domain completely to Bluehost, but I guess I did not — I think this was because we didn’t want to lose email account data), installed www.remarpro.com and used a plugin to design via www.prophoto.com. Bluehost has a backup of the site saved there so I can reinstall once we secure the domain.
5. Both Bluehost and Wild Wild West are saying the domain needs to be configured by logging in to her wordpress.com site and re-activating it there. The problem is the email account she logs in with, takes her to the site setup for https://danithompsonmusic.wordpress.com (which she doesn’t use). So without being able to login to the proper wordpress.com site, what are our other options?
This is all SO confusing. How can we possibly resolve this issue?
Any help would be very much so appreciated. THANK YOU!
]]>I’ve just used a new host server company to set up an install of WP.
Unfortunately, the host server’s control panel was in Polish language only, which meant I had to blindly follow instructions from support when doing the install.
Through this I ended up with an install located in the directory:
https://serwer1397424.home.pl/autoinstalator/wordpress/ which I was then then given further instructions to re-direct to my domain name poland-today.pl.
Finally, to complete the install I then went into my wp panel (serwer1397424.home.pl/autoinstalator/wordpress/login.php) and set both site url and wordpress url to https://poland-today.pl to finish the configuration.
However, this didn’t work so I tried correcting it by hard coding the following into my wp-config.php:
define(‘WP_HOME’,’https://poland-today.pl’);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’https://serwer1397424.home.pl/autoinstalator/wordpress/’);
This worked, my site came up online. But unlike all other installs of WP I’ve used the view pages addresses (poland-today.pl) were different to the login and dashboard addresses (https://serwer1397424.home.pl/autoinstalator/wordpress/) and when viewing pages while logged in I did not have an edit link or a dashboard menu navigation bar across top. It is as if the user and administrator get directed to different domain names.
Can anyone tell me how to correct this and turn it into a conventional install with both view pages and dashboard via the poland-today.pl domain.
Thanks
Tim
]]>Please help.
Thank you.
]]>I just created a clean install of a multisite setup and my subdomains don’t work at all. I followed all of the directions at ottopress.com and I have set up a different multisite install with domain mapping and had no problems. I compared both setups and saw absolutely no difference.
But when I try to go to subdomains of tastygumbo.com, none of them work as subdomains. I can go to superdupershark.com for example but I can’t go to superdupershark.tastygumbo.com. So the mapping is working perfectly but the subdomains aren’t working at all.
Does anyone have any ideas about solutions? I am totally and completely stymied by this one.

[No bumping, thank you.]
]]>I have the Domain Mapping Plugin installed and the sites resolve perfectly if I use the domain name that is parked in CPanel. For example:
newsite.com works but newsite.multisite.com doesn’t work. This means that the tags plugin doesn’t work and some of the multisite functionality that would normally work has to worked around.
There must be something simple that I’m missing. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance!
]]>I recently set up a coming soon page for my website at www.thevante.com however, when I type in thevante.com, it shows something entirely different. I changed the settings from thevante.com to www.thevante.com using the wordpress and side address URL under settings.
Is there a way I can link the two addresses? So when you type either one, it leads to the same site.
Thank you
]]>I have been reviewing the forums to figure out how to fix my problem, and while there are many people with the same question, I am finding it difficult to understand the answers.
I have a WordPress.com site (satinandsnowflakes.com) – domain purchased through WordPress. I recently bought a theme from outside of WordPress.com and realize that I need a site on .org to install it. I have purchased a domain on Bluehost and installed WordPress with their “one click” option.
I want to be able to develop my new theme on www.remarpro.com, but when I try to log into my account (from Bluehost), it directs me immediately to my WordPress.com site.
Question 1: How do I find my .org site (domain is also satinandsnowflakes.com)and log into it to upload my new theme?
Question 2: Is there a way to keep the .com site live until I am finished with my .org site?
I am very very very new to this, so if possible, plain language is best for a reply. Thank you very much, and I apologize if I am repeating a frequently asked question.
]]>Before i went to take the website live, I switched the URL in the settings and then dumped the website into a different URL – now I cannot access the admin panel of my website.
I have the website in two separate locations now:
(1) https://verizononline.us/test/
(2) https://verizononline.us/
When I go to access the admin panel I just get redirected to the front end. Is there a way to bypass this or do I need to start over from the beginning? Please help / my appreciated.
