This is not a plugin that would be easy to setup if you’re not familiar with coding. ]]>
So, I think I need assistance but don’t know exactly what to do.
My search console started showing a few thousand 5xx errors after a specific date this year.
I use a spreadsheet to log all changes and updates I perform on the site, and I was able to track what I did on that day… This specific date (7-9-2024) matches with the day I:
(1) – installed and experimented with both Autoptimize and Async plugins (I was trying to get better page speed results).
(2) – activated NGIX server cache on Cpanel
I wasn’t able to get better page speed results
but the 5xx errors started apearing two days later 7-11-2024 on this date and kept on rising on the next days…The strange thing is that despite the fact that I uninstalled (and deleted) both plugins a month later, the problem still persists.
Files for which I’m getting errors are directory files (libraries and such) – specific files that I think should not be crawlable by Google bot, like:
/wp-includes/block-supports/block-style-variations.php
/wp-includes/sodium_compat/namespaced/Core/Curve25519/H.php
/wp-includes/Requests/src/Exception/Http/Status504.php
On this date, simultaneously, the amount of NON indexed pages rose from about 300 (regarding thin content pages) to about 9000 pages (and rising) to include /wp-includes/ and /wp-content/ pages…
Also, I would imagine that (and supposing that the problem was caused by one of these plugins) if uninstalling and deleting them shouldn’t have fixed the issue?
I’ve spoken to my hosting company and they suggested to change htacess file to incorporate a line to keep directories hidden – I already did that but when I try to access these files I get from GSC, I still get a 5xx error… I’m wondering is if I should do anything else before try to validate?
I’ve already tried validation of this error twice (on GSearchConsole), and I fear that a third time with the problem not fixed marks it permanently as a persistent error (don’t know where I read this
but I kind of fear that…)Anyone had this issue before? I’ve seen some answers regarding similar questions but no specific answer how to solve the issue…

We’re seeing some unusual search results for the URL submitted with this request. Essentially, when you search the company name, you don’t see any of the text put into Yoast (that has in turn gone correctly into the title and meta description tags). What you see instead, is the alt text for the main logo.
Reproduction steps
- Google/Bing ‘Riverside Bifolds’
- Confirm the title on the first (homepage) result as ‘Riverside Bifolds Logo’
- View the source of the homepage, see the title should in fact be ‘Aluminium Doors Southampton | Aluminium Entrance Doors Hampshire’
Suspicion
Do you believe it may have something to do with the fact the site operates on [www.domain.com] but the site fundamentally sits within a directory? The admin area of the site sits at [www.domain.com/wp/wp-admin].
Would love to hear any ideas you folks may have.
