My understanding on reading through the forums is that I must start again and rebuild the whole website from scratch? If so, can I reuse any of the image files that are in the wp-content directory or is it better to remove these? Secondly, can anyone advise whether (and if so how) it is possible to access a cached version of the site? As I had been busy with other projects I hadn’t been back to check on this website I estimate that it had been down for around three weeks. When I search with Google cache I get a 404 error and all traces of the new site have disappeared. The url is enigma-absinthe.co.uk which will currently be showing a mixture of pages from a previous version based on SellerDeck and holding pages from the fresh WP install.
I’m pretty cutup at the thought of embarking on a rebuild of a site which took me a month to build so any advise would be welcome, thanks in advance.
]]>I unintentionally deleted all of the media references in the DB to one of my sites (I mistakenly thought I was working on another dev site with a similar name).
There is no backup (I know I know UTTER SHAME I thought it was a dev site…).
I still have all of the files on FTP.
How can I “refresh” all of the database links using the files on FTP? Will I have to “reattach” all of the media for each post??
Help!
]]>/test
) which worked perfectly, and decided to deinstall and reinstall into the root directory. I used Wise FTP and cleaned all the old files off the server (1and1)and deleted the old MySQL database. Once I had a clean install which works (www.shinewaterchurch.org
), no links to my audio files on the same server (/Media
) connect anymore. BTW, the links have worked on various simple websites I have built for over 4 years now.
The link to the page is (https://shinewaterchurch.org/media/
)
I am using the same plug-ins as before. Do I need a htaccess file in the root folder?
The link for an audio file when clicked produces this result:
The requested URL “https://www.shinewaterchurch.org/Media/2014/2014_03_02-the_benefits_of_being_his_child_favour_and_friendship-mo_tizzard-80kbps.mp3” cannot be found or is not available. Please check the spelling or try again later.
This happens whatever link is pressed (but the file name changes)
Please help!
]]>How do I replace the old MySQL Database?
I even tried to reinstall by running the /wp-admin/install.php and that didn’t work either.
Do I have to actually delete all of the WP files from the server and get a fresh set of WP files?
Ideas?
]]>I recently deleted my database for my blog and as a result i get :Error establishing a database connection:, i tried to find some answers on the forum but people were talking about problems between mysql 4 and mysql 5 and this is not the case, my previous database was mysql 5.
So i have the restored database on my PC, i have created a new database with the exact name and description as of the one deleted in the first place. I went in it and uploaded my previous database and it still doesn’t work. My hosting company said that in order for it to work i have to do this :
“As for the error connecting to the database. It appears the wordpress installation is set to connect to one of the databases that was removed. You will need to update the wordpress configuration to connect to the database the information for that installation was restore to.”
I am a beginner with mysql know nothing about it or how can I make it work. I thought that by creating a database with the same name will solve this but i still get that error “Error establishing a database connection”.
I am desperate i don’t know what to do, my blog was what I did for a living and now its down.
Can some please help me out?
Thank you very much
