Database backup file is missing

Greetings, I’m trying to migrate a wordpress subsite from a multisite installation to a single one. The backup is generated with no problems, all the files are there. When I try to immport that backup into the new installation I get this error:

“Database backup file is missing. Unable to import database”. The database.sql file exist in the uploads folder.

My database has disappeared with the latest version of wordpress on the website https://www.consciousexplorers.com I thought it was my hosts issue and i have been on at them for weeks about it. Finally I got them to link this to an old database but it doesnt reflect the current website in any way but at least I can get into the backend where before I could not. https://www.consciousexplorers.com/wp-admin

I just found out today that another website that I made for a friend has the same problem although it looks different. Ultimately he can’t get into the back end. The website is login is https://monroeinstituteuk.org/wp-login

We both greatly need to update our websites, so any help would be hugely appreciated!

WP Was Reset and My Whole Database Was Scrubbed

I have been working on a new install of my client’s website in a subdirectory /newsite. We’ve spent the past few months customizing a premium theme and uploading content.

I was waiting on more content when I received an email from my client asking why the new site was gone. After checking, I found that /newsite was nothing more than a new install of WP with the 2015 theme and all of my content was gone.

I discovered an email that just looked like the other notifications of updates which said the site had been reset (see text pasted below). I did not request this. Why/how did www.remarpro.com reset my site? What is going on? And if I just start anew will this happen again?

And in answer to a logical question: no, I didn’t back up the database. I will be starting all over (lesson painfully learned).

database missing from phpMyAdmin but it's there in mySQL

This is a second WP installation in another directory
I’ve worked with WP before but this is strange

I want to change the database prefix so I ran phpMYAdmin from cPanel
NO databases are listed

Both databases are there in cPanel (when you look at mySQL databases and users)

Have contacted support at my host provider and they can log in and see the databases

I tried using IE instead of Chrome, but still can’t see them

I don’t want to work on my website further because it seems something is wrong

Has anyone heard of this problem before? I tried deleting and re-installing WP again, but the result is the same.

Okay, I know that is not very descriptive, but I am experiencing major issues with my site. Okay, about 4 weeks ago my website was being attacked left and right. By way of the “who’s online plugin”, I was able to see which files they were accessing. To make a long story short, these hackers/bots would delete important include files, and files in my wp-contents that have to do with my theme. After having this occur a couple of times, I updated my security by getting the latest “wp-better security plugin”. Things were okay for a while, but even this was not enough and my site ended up being compromised, files deleted.

But I always had a backup of my database for whenever I went through some problem like this. When I tried to upload my files view Filezila, everything is clearly uploaded successfully. But of course with problems like these, there is always something else that comes up. For some reason, my wp-admin part of the site was not found. No login page, the url read as followed,

automata-theatre.netau.net/notfound

O great! How wonderful. So I go to my webhost log into Myp4padmin and there appears to be no database, nothing.. yet when I look through the FTP everything is there. I’m not sure if it has something to do with my Htaccess.file, as wp-better security does add a lot of new commands, im not sure. But I tried everything in my knowledge, including uploading a older version of my site, with a htaccess.file that has it’s original command… and at this point all I get is error establishing database connection (even though it has the proper info in the config.file)or some redirection to Cloud anti-virus… which when I press yes to continue sends me to my webhost provider main page… but it is lacking theme aspects O.o.

At this point I decide to make a another domain, to screw the other one I had and go with the new one. But the same problem persist.. either the database is completely missing from myp4padmin despite being uploaded through FTP, an error which sends you to Cloudanti-virus asking you do what to continue to this infected site, which turns out to be my webhost provider… OR, in the case of this new domain, https://automata-theatre.site50.net/ , all my content is gone, even though it is there through FTP. Not only is the content gone, but the theme looks a little messed up (see the two search bars and overlapping words).Mind you, I made a new username/pswd for this newer site.

Okay so that’s my junk of problems… my original site, automata-theatre.netau.net is currently down. I deleted everything off of the database in an attempt to restore the site via SQL file, however the upload lags out, so I guess it’s too big… dunno. The other is this one: automata-theatre.net16.net – which should redirect you to cloud anti-virus. I would prefer to have my original site back, as that is the site which everyone has access to for my art projects.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. And sorry for any grammar issues.

What the devil is going on? I’m new and just trying to get WordPress

I’m running a tutorial from Lynda.com and it had
me set databasename to explore_ca
user to root
password to root
to match exercise files.
Could this be a problem?

Lost database of main site

I followed along with your 5-minute instructions and created an ftp folder called ‘blog’ and dragged and dropped everything in there after setting up a new database in my cp. The main site the blog folder and its files went in to seems to have now lost it’s product database. I am getting the following error when I try to view a product on the main site as well as when I attempt to open my Admin page:

You need to set your database connection in vsadmin/db_conn_open.php.

Any guesses where I went so terribly, terribly, terribly wrong?

ho hum, i guess it was an old thread…
anyhow, i upgraded to 2.5 and now the blog is working – even though all my old categories have dissapered (yet they still seem to be in my database). no major problem tho, i don’t ahve too many posts, so i can go tbrough them and re categorise.
i do have a concern tho, where are the new categories going (i can’t seem to see them in the category secoitn of my sql database) and i’m a bit concerned that i may be storing up a problem in the future…
I’m using the latesst version of 2.5, winddows vista.
