I am experiencing an issue with my WordPress website. After changing my computer and reinstalling WordPress, I transferred the necessary files using FileZilla. However, when I attempt to access the admin panel, I receive the following error message:
“Error establishing a database connection.”
I would appreciate any guidance on resolving this issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.
Best regards,
]]>What I have done: I have installed WordPress, Web Station, MariaDB 10, Apache HTTP Server 2.4 in Synology NAS
Facing issues: I do not know where and how to connect to the database table in MariaDB 10 and how can I edit/update some data/info in the database table via the Website which created by me.
]]>We need SSL on our DB-server, so the fix “eslamsa3ed” provided is not an option.
Everything else is working as intended – WordPress, other plugins and themes.
]]>I’m encountering a “Error establishing database connection” error every now and then, mainly while working in the admin side of the website. I’ve got in contact with our hosting provider and they’ve found out that sometimes there are too many database connections open. They’ve capped it at 15.
I’m wondering if there’s a plugin or a code snippet I could use to log exactly what file/plugin is opening and closing database connections, so I can see where the problem lies.
]]>I attempted to add the correct database using the Add Remote Database process, but that was the wrong thing to do and now I can’t delete that entry.
We’re running WP Data Access Premium, updated to the current version.

I love this plugin, but I’m lost on this new server and need a little help on this to get it up and running again.
]]>My hosting period finished and I’m trying to recreate my website on my laptop (ubuntu) so that I can recover the contents in the pages more easily when creating the website online in a new host. (It was a compromised host so I don’t want to simply bring the wp-content folder to the new location)
So I followed this link in order to install WP in my laptop: https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/install-and-configure-wordpress#7-configure-wordpress
but in the end I have a “Error establishing a database connection” and cannot proceed to the install.
I don’t know how to edit the database or check it’s name when on a laptop. I tried to install phpmyadmin through this tutorial: https://www.linuxshelltips.com/install-phpmyadmin-in-linux/
but I get a “not found” when typping https://localhost/phpmyadmin in my browser.
How can I recover the content from the pages in order to copy-paste them to the new site?
Hope it is not so confusing,
Rod
]]>I have this website i’m building in which i get this ‘Error establishing a database connection’ error sometimes when ?clicking on the wishlist button (header). I didn’t had this issue before.
I contacted my hosting company to help me find the source of the problem. This is the response i got:
Thank you for your patience, I have monitored the server for a while and the issue occurs when the CPU load is high on the server. The cause of high CPU usage is high wp-admin ajax calls from the application.
The high admin-ajax calls generated by your application are causing load on the CPU due to which the MySQL service is crashing and the website performance is slow.
I would recommend you to install the Heartbeat plugin in all the WordPress applications and configure them as mentioned below:
Modify Activity for Admin Dashboard > Choose frequency between 120 to 300. I would suggest 250 or 200. This will lower your ajax calls, reducing the database connection errors at the backend.
I have also checked and the mail poet plugin is causing slowness on the application due to which the CPU is also getting a bit high. You need to check with the plugin team why it is causing slowness to the site so that the site works well with the plugin.
I managed to setup the heartbeat plugin, but the error persists. So i am hoping i can get this mailpoet issue fixed to continue using it on my websites.
I am using Blocksy theme. How can i get mailpoet work better on my site?

Kind regards,
I followed the WordPress installation instructions here.
/var/www/html
https://example.com/wp-admin/install.php
localhost
and 127.0.0.1
in the host field and confirmed that my database table prefix is, in fact, the default wp_
.
I’ve done a ridiculous amount of Googling and searching these forums and I’m at a loss. I can’t get past the “Error establishing database connection” error message. I’ve also tried manually editing wp-config.php
and that has the same result.
I’ve consulted the guide to moving WordPress between servers, to make sure I didn’t do steps out of order. Since my domain and all file paths are exactly the same, I’m not seeing any explanation there.
]]>Since this happened on two of my sites and the site started working again when I disabled LiteSpeed Cache (that site still had some dashboard parts accessible, but CPT were hard to access with the same symptoms), I’m thinking an interaction between the CPT UI plugin and the LiteSpeed Cache plugin is the cause.
Current version of Litespeed Cache: Version 5.2.1.
I don’t feel comfortable updating CPT UI unless this is fixed, as every time I needed to go in my server, not site backups, to issue a fix.
]]>The MP error message says that mail poet is unable to connect to the database.
Is there a simple solution for using Mailpoet with a remote DB?
Thanks
