Theme Customize Page (/wp-admin/customize.php) is Empty

When I try to load the /wp-admin/customize.php page, the page is blank. Why?

I just did a fresh install of wordpress in a VM running Debian 10. I did not install any plugins (though wordpress came with Akismet Anti-Spam
installed by default). I have the latest version of WordPress from the
debian repos installed — currently that’s 6.1.6 (which is listed as
supported by this theme at the time of writing). WordPress is served by nginx 1.22.1 and php8.2-fpm. I’m using the latest version of this theme (downloaded yesterday) = v3.8.7.

I’m using firefox 115.11.0esr and accessing the wordpress site at https://localhost:8081/

When I click on Appearance -> Customize, I get an empty page.

There are no PHP or web server errors appearing in the nginx logs.

If I change the theme to the only other theme installed (the default = Twenty Twenty-Three that came with wordpress), then I can load the customize.php page without issue.

Where can I report this bug?

Hello all. Have just rebuilt a wordpress install after my original crashed due I think to disk space issues. For this install I used WAMP and made sure that the versions of WordPress Apache PHP PHPMyAdmin. Maria and SQL were all the most recent. WAMP also needed an earlier version of PHP. After installing and startup of wordpress I was able to search for and load the Gutenslider and sticky-menu plug-ins. However when I tried to look-up and install a new theme ( Harrison in this case) I ended up with a white screen. I eventually did a manual install of the harrison theme which then came up correctly represented on the list of installed themes. I had no trouble activating and deactivating themes, including twenty-sixteen and twenty-seventeen, but when I tried to view or preview any except twenty-sixteen the representation was all out of scale and backgrounds were incorrect. What has me really confused is that twenty-sixteen has the correct appearance and the page scrolling worked fine, but with the others things were very wrong. I have also found that customize, theme-install and post-new do not work – all produce a white screen except for the sidebar, which consists only of the header and footer. After clicking on “customize” there is a lot of activity “transferring data from localhost” but when that stops the white screen remains. I have deactivate the plug-ins and gone through my settings as far as I feel confident in doing, and can see nothing obviously wrong. I am wondering if there is an incompatibility between the themes and PHP or perhaps some fragment of my previous install has somehow found its way into the new one via the database. I do not think that is possible but someone who knows more than I might be able to advise? There was no indication of a stray database during configuration.
I have been looking at this as best I can for a few days but am going nowhere. Thanks in advance for any advice.

post.php and customize.php do not display properly

Hi and thank you in advance.
I just installed WordPress 5.4.2 on a VPS Unix server. WordPress was successfully installed as you can visit the site. However, clicking on Appearance – Themes shows the default WP themes. Clicking “Customize” on any of them results in a customize.php that just displays text with no formatting. This is also true when trying to edit pages as post.php does not display properly.

I have already tried:
– disabling all plugins (only two are installed since it is a fresh WP installation)
– Adding “define(‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false);” to wp-config.php
– Uninstall and re-installing WP

I’m at a lost of what to do next. Your assistance is greatly needed and appreciated.

Disable auto redirect in “customize.php”

I disabled the autoredirects in wp-admin to prevent the access to the login url, however, this doesn’t apply just to the file “/wp-admin/customize.php”

This is the code I used:

qTranslate-X is not picking up fields in theme customization page

Hello everyone I added a control to my theme customization page like so:


    $wp_customize->add_control('mytheme_search_button_text',array(
        'type' => 'text',
        'section' => 'mytheme_search_button_text',
        'setting' => 'mytheme_search_button_text',
        'input_attrs' => array( 'class' => 'i18n-multilingual')
    ));

And the class displays correctly in the customization page, I was under the impression that all I needed to do is add the class i18n-multilingual to the theme fields and qTranslate-x will take care of the rest. I changed themes and back, nothing happens.

So is this NOT the right way to integrate qTranslate-x into my theme? If so, what should I do to make the plugin pickup fields in customize.php

Customize.php not loading properly on new installation of WP on localhost

Hello,

I’m building a WordPress website on my local machine using XAMPP. I’ve downloaded & installed WP 4.9.1 and have installed the theme I want to use. When I go to Appearance —> Themes —> Customize (which calls customize.php), the page doesn’t load properly. (see link below for screenshot)

I have tried switching to Twenty Fifteen and Twenty Sixteen themes and doing the same thing, they have the same problem which leads me to believe I need to change something on my localhost installation to get it to work. I have no plugins installed, this is a brand new installation of WP.

When I attempt to the do the same thing to the live website, the customizer works just fine. I’m confident there is something else I need to adjust/change to get it to work on my local machine, but I’m not sure what it is. Has anyone run into this before?

EDIT: In the chrome browser developer tools console, I noticed a lot of “Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined” error messages. Is this a function of running this on localhost? How do I define the jQuery call on a local installation?

Wow, I am totally stumped and frustrated, guys! OK, so here’s what happened . . . .

I was trying to figure out how to make the WordPress admin bar/toolbar display on the “Theme Customizer” page/view. Someone suggested that I could try adding the following line of code to my “/wp-admin/customize.php” file, so I did:

add_filter('show_admin_bar', '__return_true');

Well, not only did it not work, it has seemingly irreparably broken the Theme Customizer functionality altogether. Now, when I try to load a Theme Customizer page (for example, /wp-admin/customize.php?et_customizer_option_set=theme), the page is entirely blank/white, except for this entirely unhelpful error message:

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

I have tried all of the following “fixes” (in order), to no avail:

1. reverted the “/wp-admin/customize.php” file to its previous state;
2. restored the theme from backup;
3. restored the database from backup;
4. restored all uploads from backup;
5. disabled all plugins;
6. re-installed WordPress core (4.1.8);
7. checked on the .htaccess file, which was not modified.

Nothing works. How could one line of code in “/wp-admin/customize.php” — a line that has since been 100% reverted — cause this sort of damage? What am I missing? (I noticed that no files in the /wp-admin/ or /wp-includes/ folders were modified when I reinstalled WordPress core.)

When in Appearance > Customize I get the following error message: Non-existent changeset UUID. in the site live preview plane. All updates are processed in the site when I save, it’s just the live preview plane that isn’t displaying. Does anybody know a fix for this?
