auto-text in creating links not working

With the 2 newest versions, when creating a link, auto text doesn’t work any more so when I highlight text, click onto the link button, I need to copy & paste the link or manually type out whole thing. It no longer auto fills it with just a couple of letters typed so it doesn’t provide link options that can be used in a dropdown format like it used to. Creating links is not as quick and easy as it was before.

Cannot add links within post

I am unable to create a link within a post. After entering the destination URL and title, and pressing “Update”, it only produces a message saying “The changes you made will be lost if you navigate away from this page”.

I have tried to de-activate all plugins – no change. I have tried Chrome AND Firefox – no change.

Any help would be welcome.

Creating a link on an image in a side bar

I’m new to this and this is my first effort at the forums here. Currently I’m using the Twenty Eleven Word Press theme and I added an image widget to my main side bar. The plugin itself is version 3.3.7 by Modern Tribe, Inc. The image I am using in the sidebar is a header from another site and I want to create a link to this image that will connect someone to the other site. But with the image in the widget, it doesn’t have that option to create a link like it would with an image on a normal page. Is there some simple way to get this image to link to another site? Also can this be done with text in the image widget? If this involves work with code, that’ll be out of my range unless it is really, really simple. My site is markmcmillion.com. creating links in posts

I just started using wordpress. When I write a post and create a link the post disappears unless I use the html editor. Is this the only way to make links??

Also when I create a link it does work, but only on my mac. It shows up as regular text on my evo phone. I really need these links to work on all mobile devices. What should I do????

My site is www.applicationtalk.com please keep in mind I am just getting started. I have put almost nothing on my site yet.

I’m making my first ever custom link. should I have a folder somewhere where all my files will be for this website so I can find the path to it? I have never done a link like this before. Thanks. This is for my “about me”. Then I’ll have jpgs.

Contributors can’t create links in posts

Many users contribute to my blog. I’ve set some of their user statuses at the Contributor level, so that their posts must be reviewed prior to their being posted. I know that at this level they’re unable to insert images/video/other media. But I’m surprised to see that, when they save their postings, links they’ve created disappear. Is this how the system is supposed to work? It certainly doesn’t work well for my co-bloggers.

I’ve created a test identity at Contributor level and I find the same problem myself. I can create the links; they appear to be fine; and then I save the post, and they disappear.

Any advice?

Inserting links in text

When my blog was first set up a few months ago I could insert hyper links using the ‘linked chain’ icon – in the last few days each time I try to insert a link the box that appears just freezes. After a few seconds if I pass the mouse over the insertion box the mouse usually ‘sticks to’ the box and now the mouse is stuck on the box – nothing can be done except closing WP and reopening.

Any suggestions anyone – at this point I can’t insert any hpyer links into my text. I know there is a manual method but I’d prefer not have to use it as it is more time consuming (and I don’;t know how to do it)
