The following are specifics for the website:
WordPress version 5.4.1
Current theme: Divi (version 4.4.3)
Current plugin: The Events Calendar (version 5.1.0)
PHP version 7.3.12
I’m new at working with websites & didn’t know what to do. A dialog box gave a link to a temporary setting which I wen to and another one suggested contacting my hosting company. Nelson at DreamHost let me know that plugins are external to them but offered some suggestions. He also confirmed that their servers were running smoothly and there were not any issues from their end in this matter. I gave him permission to disable plugins & even my Divi theme if needed. He only needed to disable the Events calendar & the website came back up. He had several optimization suggestions some of which I have implemented but others will take time for me to look at knowledge bases to find out how to proceed.
I have several questions for you:
(1) Has anyone else had this problem with this plugin? I’ve looked at the community forum & can’t find a similar situation.
(2) Why can’t I delete this plugin? Nelson suggested that if we have to have the events calendar to completely delete it and then reactivate it. I’ve tried multiple times to delete it & it says it’s deleting but nothing happens.
(3) Can you offer anything to help me be sure this doesn’t happen again if I activate this plugin again?
I’m using the free version so I don’t know how much support you can give me but I appreciate any help you can offer. I’m new with this and much of this technical stuff is over my head. Thanks so much.

We had extremely slow load times, and eventually ended up with website 503 server errors and cancelled statuses on the admin-ajax.php calls.
Since we require many forms on one page, how do we avoid the multiple instances of the admin-ajax.php that is crippling our site? My only work-around is to create a landing page for each form so that the admin-ajax.php only triggers once per page, but this is not ideal at all? Any help with this is much appreciated please.

What can be the problem?

Unfortunately my backups were not being recorded properly and I am now without a site. Godaddy was unable to correct the issue and said I would need to contact a developer to determine how the plugin corrupted my site. Has anyone experienced this issue? If anyone has any suggestions or helpful advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I don’t want to have to start the site over from scratch. Thanks in advance!!!
