Emails and Users not protected from spammers!

As you can see below – there is a huge risk by using that plugin as it exoposes all email adresses and email collectors will more than happy to get all of those and then spam around with it. I copied all the emails below frm your demo page with a simple right click copy and paste! I took only part of it as an select all would have had thousands of emails!

The plugin looks great and has great features but that problem really needs to get solved as in most cases the email is also the login userID!!!

Hello, folks, I was wondering if there is a plugin that people registering under 13 need permission of there parents to register so I can comply with COPPA

I have to modify registration in a blog, for people under 14.
They asked me something like coppa a double email registration, one of the child and one of the parents.
I looked for a plugin but I didn’t find it.
Do you have any suggestions?

COPPA Compliance

Has anyone run into COPPA compliance issues on a wordpress site? I’m helping a friend set up a site to market his album of children’s music. COPPA is Child Online Privacy Protection Act and regulates the collection of personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.

At a minimum, I think I need to add a check box to the registration page that asks if you are 12 or under and a link to the privacy policy of the site that clearly spells out how information about child users is used by the site. Additionally, posts by users that are children should not be personally identifiable (eg. WordPress should change their comments to say “posted by a young fan” or something).

A little more advanced usage would be to collect the parent’s email address to ask for permission to create the user account and/or send marketing info (upcoming concerts, new album, etc.) to their kids. If my friend wants to rent his marketing database, it would be nice to be able to easily remove the child users from that list.

Any thoughts?

If not, then I’m going to need some help writing my first WordPress plug-in.

Please modify your software so that it is in compliance with COPPA rules. We are not allowed to collect email addresses of minors without written permission of the parent.

Right now the software is violating federal law.

The system needs to prescreen subscribers and those under 13 can not have persional information stored in the database. Its ok to mail them a password but we can not store any persional information about them, including the email address.

I have modified my signup screens in my copy to send minors to another screen telling them they can not subscribe but this is only a work arround.
We need a special minor subscription level built in the software that way minors can make post but we will not have any persional info on them..
