I am wondering if anyone has an easy way (plugin preferred) to be able to extract, on a periodic basis, the titles, URLs and summaries of my blog posts.

Instead of having each post shared automatically to social media or wherever, I would like to be able to share a weekly summary of the 5 or 6 posts I made that week.You see this all the time in newspaper or other news related sites – a list, with excerpts, of a number of posts in one place, with clickable links to the originals. A compilation of the week’s activity for example.

I guess I could do a cumbersome cut and paste but that will get old real quick. Anyone know a good way to “automate” this and just select a half dozen posts and have them summarized in one place with title, link and excerpt (and maybe featured image)?

WordPress articles embedded not showing

Good morning;

I have been suffering this issue since I have memory and I thought that it was something common in WP.
When I embed an article of my own website in another article/page, initially in the editor it shows the article well embedded (Square with picture, brief description, number of comments and author)
But, as soon as I publish it and reload the page, it isn’t shown anymore. Well, at least in most of the cases. It is a strange behaviour as maybe re-loading the page several times, in one of them you may be able to visualise it, but as soon as you reload the page again it doesn’t show anymore.

I tried to fix it, but as it wasn’t a function that I used to use with frequency, I just ignored it. However, I have made a compilation page where I must embed other articles. In this way, I must fix this problem.

I have tried changing the theme, deactivating other plugins, and it doesn’t fix. Another thing to know is that the figure captions didn’t work, and I fixed them using a custom CSS. Maybe, could I use another solution like this for the embedded things?

The article where the embedded things are shown is written in the “website” part

I can’t get this plugin to work. I copied this line from the documentation but get an error:

Here is the error (this is repeated many times):

I am using the automatic newsletter to send all new articles from last week. An article, which was already included in a newsletter, will not be compiled again in the next newsletter. Where is this link in the database?
I want to manually delete the “flag” using phpmyadmin, so that an article, which was already sent, will be compiled again in a next newsletter.
Which field keeps this value?

Trouble compiling multiple less files into one stylesheet

Hello,

I am using a parent/child theme structure where I want different sites to share variables and mixins. So, I have something like this:

/parent/parent.less
/child/child.less

Inside child.less is this line:

@import "/wp-content/themes/parent/parent.less";

So when I enqueue this child theme in functions.php, this plugin will compile it the way I want — except for the import. This line shows up the same in the compiled css:

@import "/wp-content/themes/parent/parent.less";

Which the compiled css file can’t do anything with.

I could queue parent and child separately, and child.css would cascade over parent.css. However, the point is to have the preprocessing, and in this scenario, child.less can’t use any of the variables or mixins set by parent.less.

So my question is, how do I compile the two files before processing into css?

I tried this :

– Update to WP4
– Update child theme
– Update all plugins
– Desactivate all plugins
– Desactivate child theme

The problem is still there.

In fact the only way to get rid of it is to change permalinks for default www.mywebsite.com/?p=123

But as soon as I reactivate www.mywebsite.com/%category%/ the problem is here again.

My website is on a dedicated server, running for 1 year now without any problem under WP 3.6.1 (now WP4)

But on August 23th I decided to update more thant 300 jobs and to change permalinks for resumes (there are 4700 resumes) and the problem appears !

I also have two problems which are I think related :

– the server CPU usage sometimes goes up from 5% to 50% in one minute, when I publish a new post

– the server crashes about one time every week since late August.

Any idea?

PHP parsing errors in with Phalanger

I am attempting to compile the source code for WordPress 3.8 using Phalanger (https://phalanger.codeplex.com/). The process generates several errors, and a number of warnings. I am not a PHP developer at all, but I understand Phalanger is very strict about valid PHP. As such I thought I’d list them here in case it is useful to the WP developer team. I’ll try to fix the errors myself so that I can compile WP, but it would be great if the WP code base was validated against Phalanger as a matter of routine.
