I recently noticed comments stopped being displayed on the site, and im guessing its due to the theme being out of date. i understand i could update the theme to rectify this, but i think i may have made some manual customisations to the theme files, (a very long time ago) so am weary of updating as i will most likely lose those customisations.
Is there any way i can do a diff of the original 2010 theme files, to see what changes i have made to the files, so it will make it easier to migrate the changes to the newer versions of the files?
also is there anyway to find out the exact version number of the theme i have installed, so i can find a corresponding unaltered copy of the original theme files, so i can see what changes i have made.
Many thanks,
steve
]]>I tried it out to and it was the same for me.
Obviously I can’t operate like that, so I rolled back to the previous version, 2.9.4 and comments are now working fine again.
Is this something you’re aware of and will it be addressed in the next update? I don’t really want to stay on an out-of-date version forever, but I can’t update either.
]]>It gave my readers a 405 error or blank screen when they tried to comment. So I tried to see if I had a problem on my end. But I don’t. I logged out of WordPress and it still allowed me to post. I changed computers, got on my cell phone and all allowed me to post. So I couldn’t replicate the problem. I had blogging friends try it from different locations. They couldn’t get it to work. I tweaked a few things and then it worked for them. And now it always seems to work for them. But for these others it didn’t work. Then I tried going back to a previous version of things and that caused a massive failure. I had to reload everything.
Once getting everything reloaded I decided to try changing themes. I researched different themes and went back to one I had previously been using. I also added a social comment software to try to bypass the generic one through wordpress. Not all people seem to get it, or it loads really slowly. They get just the generic wordpress one. They say they post still and still get a 405 error. So I checked the plugins and found out a couple were in conflict and got rid of the conflicts, but that didn’t seem to work. And what’s worse, I still seem to be able to do everything just fine. So I cannot replicate on my end what’s happening so I cannot see to fix. Do you have any ideas where to begin?
I’ve already changed themes, checked plugins, and done a myriad of other things to fix this. Please help!!
]]>But no comment field shows up!! Please please help! I’m launching a podcast soon and need people to be able to interact with me on my blog…
]]>I have tried to disable all plugins, reinstall WP 4.8, change themes, empty caches etc with no luck. Anyone has an idea?
Cheers
I’ve deactivated every plugin and reactivated, repeatedly it’s All In One that is the cause of the issue. I cannot figure out why.
What happens is, when someone tries to leave a comment, they can click submit, but then the timer animation runs and runs, and the comment is never actually submitted.
Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions?
I have the plugin deactivated right now: littleredtarot.com
Thanks!
