I also run my browser (Chrome) on Chromebook running Ubuntu. I do not know if this would cause the problem. I use wordpress before, but only in the intermediate level. Please help.
Many thanks,
Andrew
I really don’t know what the issue is as I haven’t tried to dig in to the code yet, because really, I’m trying to develop this site for a potential personal venture and I don’t really want to be a programmer.
Hopefully, someone here can figure this out!

Chromebooks have rising popularity & I would be very concerned if a Chromebook user is locked out of some or all Woocommerce Shop pages.
]]>I operate an online store which uses a Woocommerce Shop page & I have just discovered that the Shop page displays & functions fine on:
– Safari via iOS9 on a 2016 iPhone
– Chrome 85.0.4183.101 via Android 6.0.1 on an Oppo phone
– Chrome 85.0.4183.84 via Windows on an HP notebook
However, I have now tested my site on two separate Chromebooks & discovered that the Shop page does not display. It is listed in the header menu, but the Shop page will not display. Both Chromebooks were Lenovo & both use Chrome 85.0.4183.84

]]>I have disabled all my extensions on Chrome and I can’t change my theme because I get the same message when I click on that option too.
I am working from a Chromebook. Does anyone have any experience of using wordpress from one? I was assured it would work just fine.
Thanks.
]]>One way to resolve this is to enter my Computer Name instead of “localhost”, but the problem is I am using a Chromebook, which does not have a device name. I tried using my computer’s IP instead.
I’ve edited the wp-config.php file to get WordPress to automatically change the WP_HOME and WP_SITEURL database options to my computer’s IP by adding the lines:
$wordpress_url = $_SERVER[‘SERVER_ADDR’] . “/html”;
define(“WP_HOME”, $wordpress_url);
define(“WP_SITEURL”, $wordpress_url);
This allows the front page to be visible, but all of the logos, posts, and pages cannot be found.
When I try to enter wp-admin, I get this 404 message:
‘The requested URL /html/wp-admin/127.0.0.1/html/wp-login.php was not found on this server.’
From a different device I get:
‘The requested URL 192.168.1.104/html/wp-admin/192.168.1.104/html/wp-login.php was not found on this server.’
where 192.168.1.104 is my Chromebook’s network IP.
I don’t get this problem if I leave the wp-config.php file unedited. , This means I would have to manually change the URL to my computer’s IP whenever I change networks.
]]>I am a newbie to WordPress, and have registered a blog on WordPress.com via the web (https://deardavid7.wordpress.com). I cannot find what the current version # is of the web program. My main problem is that I am working on a Chromebook (Acer C720P), and when I display a blog post on it (see link above), the left margin is cut off, and there is a horizontal scroll bar provided to get to the right side of the page. This is not happening on my desktop view of the page, and also not on my Nexus 7 tablet, if the tablet is in portrait mode; however, if I turn the tablet to a horizontal position, again the left margin is cut off. When I look at the page on my Galaxy S6 Edge cell phone, it looks ok both vertically and horizontally.
Interestingly enough, when the page is first loaded into the Chromebook Chrome browser, it seems to display normally for a fraction of a second, and then switches to the cut-off margin view.
I do not have any customized themes, just the default blog theme that is provided to the newcomer who signs up for WordPress.
I have tried to install WordPress locally on my Chromebook, but (of course?) that did not work. Chromebooks apparently can only use WordPress via the web.
Perhaps I need to use a customized theme to ensure the proper display of my page on a Chromebook and on my Nexus 7 horizontal mode.
Thank you very much for your help!
David
