I run a chauffeur service website in Farnborough (https://farnboroughprivatehire.co.uk/), and I’m planning to change my domain to better match my branding. However, I’m concerned about SEO rankings, traffic loss, and potential technical issues.
I’d appreciate guidance on:
1⃣ Setting up 301 redirects properly to avoid losing rankings
2⃣ Updating WordPress settings to reflect the new domain
3⃣ Best practices for Google Search Console & Analytics updates
4⃣ Handling internal links—does WordPress update them automatically, or do I need a plugin?
5⃣ Any SEO precautions I should take before making the switch

I’ve got a problem with logging on to my wordpress domain () – after migrating it over to Shopify. So now – when i try to log on to the old wordpress domain it simply reroutes me to my new website, and not logging me in to my old wordpress account, and tells me “the page could not be shown”
When i try to login to wordpress website to change my password, or simply logging in – it just says that i dont have an account.
This gives me a lot of problems – i’m having a hard time unsubscribing to all the plugins. – It still shows the old url when i google the products, so instead of being rerouted to my new website it goes to the old url.
TL:DR – Cant login after changing domain name,
I need an option where i can get to my dashboard, so that i can remove the website entirely.

]]>I’m facing an ennoying problem.
I wanted to change my domain name from https(.)mysite.com to https(.) mysite-studio.com. I am used to cloning my sites on a local server and never had any problem so I (naively) thought that would be an easy task. I purchased a new domain name through my host, waited for about 40 hours at which time propagation was complete, and started to work.
1. Removed redirections in .htaccess, deactivated security plugin and changed site and home addresses in wp-options: Not OK, both the “old ” and “new” site could not be reached (404 not found on this server).
2. Changed back to the “old” addresses in wp options, OK. re-added redirections + security plugin: OK
3. Tried changing all “old links” for “new links” with “better-search-replace”. Immediately, both “old ” and “new” sites could not be reached (404 not found on this server).
4. Manually changed back to the “old” site and home addresses in wp options, OK. Changed all other links from the dashboard with “better-search-replace” OK. Added redirections + security plugin: OK.

It is as if the new domain is not available although the SSL certificate is active on both domains. I do not see what could be wrong with the database and I did not modify the wp-config (same database) but maybe I am missing something obvious.
According to my host this is a wordpress problem. Maybe but I just cannot figure out what the problem could be. I hope someone can help me understand what is going on. I have no idea why such a seemingly simple change fails. And of course I cannot change the domain name. ]]>
I would like to have an experimental website, where I can test a new theme.
So, to do this, I just uploaded all the FTP files from “mysite.com” to a new folder, linked to a new sub-domain : “preprod.mysite.com”.
I created a new path in my host too.
Then, I imported the database to the new domain.
The blog now appears in preprod.mysite.com, BUT when I try to log in preprod.mysite.com/wp-admin, it always lead me to the admin panel of my original site : mysite.com.
How can I log into the admin panel of “preprod.mysite.com”?

I use Bluehost and have tried several ways to gain access to my site again without any success. I have review the Changing Site URL Article and have tried both Edit wp-config.php and Edit functions.php. Neither have worked. I have tried to gain access through phpMyAdmin by changing the the domain in wp-options, but that has not worked either.
I have no idea what else I can do to gain access to my site again. ]]>

]]>I need to change my current domain name, to a new domain:
1) Do I create a new directory for the new domain and copy files over from the old domain?
– OR –
2) Do I just point the new domain to the existing directory folder?
Both domains are within the same hosting package.
Some have said only point the new domain to the folder…but others say i should create a new folder and copy over the files…im confused. 
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

]]>I found that if my website for example is www.test.com and I want to link an image to page www.test.com/this/that/first if I just put the this/that/first as the link url it automatically puts the test.com part in when it redirects. If i do it this way will i avoid problems if my new website is for example test2.com .. because it will automatically put in test2.com ? ( so it would re link it to test2.com/this/that/first)
I hope this makes sense I just want to basically avoid puting in the full link test.com/this/that/2 because I’m assuming when I switch the domain of the site that link will not work.

]]>I moved my multisite to a new domain, followed every step from the manual. Now when i enter my new domain the browser tells me that the website can’t be opened cos it redirects in an infinite loop (sorry, translating from german here).
I went through all the steps again, although not really knowing what i’m looking for? Maybe its in a folder/place which isn’t mentioned in the manual?
If anyone has an idea or even knows how to fix it? Would be awesome! ^^

She has purchased the new domain and I currently have it parked on the same hosting space as the original domain. So, when you enter https://middleagedmama.com.au/ you get the site showing up under that domain.
To change all the references throughout the site do I have to make changes in the database or anywhere else or can I simply make the changes in the General Settings re the domain?
And is there a plugin that will automatically update all references to the new domain?
Looking for a simple way to make this change. Thanks.
