Multiple Links to Product when permalink is category based

Hi Team,

I am facing a product URL issue when woo-commerce permalink set to Product base to category. Multiple links are open for a single product. Please check below links

Both URLs are working fine but this is not good for SEO.

I have tested this with the default Twenty Twenty theme and only woocommerce plugin. But still the same issue. Please check this once.

Categories in URL for SEO

Hello,

I noticed my site displays job listings like:

mysite.com/job/joblistingtitle

I would rather have it display my jobs like:

mysite.com/job/customer-service/joblistingtitle

I thought there may be a setting somewhere but I am not able to find it. I do see a permalink option in the general wordpress settings but any changes I do there don’t seem to affect the job listing URLs. I am sure it’s probably right in my face and I am just missing it.

Permalinks for category

Permalinks works fine for me, but recently I have created categories and When I go to ‘Posts’ > ‘Categories’ and I hover on the category I have an option to click ‘View’ and that take me to the post of the category, But It’s not working when I’m using Post Name (on the settings > permalink menu)

It’s only working when I’m selecting the Numeric, Do you have any idea?

Permalink issue

I have been using wp 4.0 for a few weeks and now I’ve just updated to Woo 2.2.4.

Prior to updating to 2.2.4 I had my products with a permalink base of /products/%product_cat%

I also have a page in WordPress with a slug of products which I use as my main shop page.

Prior to the update I could access categories by visiting /products/category and it worked just fine.

Since the update I get 404 if I try and visit a category page, the product pages still work fine and show the url as /products/category/product.

I’ve tried setting the products category base as products but this makes no difference, I’ve saved multiple times and flushed caches more times than I care to remember but it still fails with a 404 if I try to visit a category page. I get the same 404 if I click on the actual category in the the category section of woo Admin.

What can I do to fix this please? It’s the only issue I’ve come across with 2.2 since installing.

Link to category inexplicably redirects to first post of category

Here is a link to a category page of my wordpress site:

https://www.mysite.com/blog/category/cat_name/

If I put the above link in one of my category pages, it works fine, and takes me to the permalink for that category.

However, if I put the exact same link in one of my “Page” pages, then instead of taking me to the page for that category, it instead takes me to the page for the first post under that category! Argh!

Even weirder, if I then hit the back button, to take me back from the post page back to the “page” page, and I then hit the same link again, it now correctly takes me to the category page. Argh!

How to add custom taxonomy slug to default category slug

Hi everyone, I’m running a business directory site with pretty much default wordpress functions (default post type + default category). Since recently I’m in need for adding a city “filter” to my categories.

My default category is set to: /restaurants/chineese which shows all posts in subcategory chineese. I’d like to show a widget with a city “filter” which would return only chineese restaurants from New York. This would be easy achieveable with another subcategory: /restaurants/chineese/new-york but this is not an option since I have thousends of categories and I’d have to add hundreds of cities below every category.

I have created a hierarchical custom_taxonomy “Locations” with cities “new-york”… and the slug “/locations/new-york”. I have added 10 chineese restaurants to the city “new-york”. I was able to show a widget with the list of cities to which are the posts of current category added but the custom taxonomy link brings me to “/locations/new-york” where posts from all categories and city New York are listed – not only Chineese restaurants in New York.

My question:
Is it possible to add custom taxonomy slug at the end of category slug and show posts from the current category and the selected city.

Example:
/category/subcategory/custom_taxonomy
(in my environment: /restaurants/chineese/new-york)

Default category slug:
/restaurants/chineese should show all chineese restaurants

Default category slug + Custom taxonomy slug:
/restaurants/chineese/new-york should show only chineese restaurants from New York

I have used this thread to create the widget to show custom_taxonomy terms in the current category.

WordPress 3.1.3 'remove category' breaks post update/publish

I’ve tried a few plugins to remove ‘category’ from my site’s URL. Inevitably after a few minutes I lose the ability to change/update/publish posts. I just end up on a “not found” (404?) page, which comes up under //www.domainhere.com/wp-admin/post.php

I’ve read in a bunch of places that people have been having problems with mod_security. I’ve even read in at least one place where someone mentions specifically having to edit mod_security to specifically fix an issue with their ‘remove category’ solution in WP 3.* as well.

Anyway, I’m hosted with MidPhase. I open a support ticket and days later I get no communication from them. All I ever got was the autoresponse. I have no access to mod security myself. I’ll most likely be trying BlueHost soon simply because being ignored like that is just ridiculous and unacceptable. I don’t recommend them.

Right now I just need to accompish removing “category” from the URL of my site anywhere & everywhere, WITHOUT breaking the ability to update posts and what not .. and preferably without having to get my MidPhase hosting support involved, as apparently they’re totally worthless.

I’ve also tried redirection plugins which claim to automatically do this, that and the other thing but no dice.. so.. I’m kinda bummed right now.

Anyone know what I might be able to do? Oh, and I’m not a programmer. Most I do with the code is copy/paste. Trial and error stuff. Or maybe search for a color hex value and change it. That’s about it.

Error with Category Permalink

Hi,

I am using category permalink, but I have a problem with eror:
custom permalink: /%category%/%postname%/
When I post in the category1 the permalink should be
https://www.domain.com/category1/post.html/

In fact, category1 can be changed with any words and the result will be exactly just like the real permalink.

It creates a lot of duplicated meta titles while I love using that permalink structur. Can anyone help me, please?

Running a fresh 2.6 install, migrating a 3000 post typepad blog and I have managed to replicate almost every permalink to exactly match the original site. I am now left with archives and categories but I most bothered about categories. I do not want to use any form of rewriteing to achieve the correct category structure and would instead prefer to have it hard coded.

I have tried a couple of plugins that I thought could do this job, such as

but as of yet none have worked.

I am hoping someone here can give me a solution.

I basically don’t want

/category/%category%

Getting just /%category% is easy enough with plugins but adding the /index.html has proven beyond me.
