Can’t Add Categories

Hello there,
A very strange issue, I encountered upon. I’ve switched my site on WPEngine to default twenty-twenty theme and then deactivated all plugins.
Now, while adding Categories, it shows an error: “Empty term”.

In phpmyadmin, the term_id remains 0 for that category.
I’ve no idea, what’s going on here!

Anyone encountered this before, any suggestions?

Category Bug | products redirecting to uncategorized when category is edited

I am running Divi theme.

Anytime I edit a category that has products in it, the product links immediately get redirected to uncategorized. For example, url.com/shop/category/product becomes url.com/shop/uncategorized/product. The page is then not found.

I have checked my permalink structure and that is not the issue. If I delete the category and readd the products it works but when I go into to add an image to the category or edit the SEO the category immediately becomes corrupted and the links start redirecting to uncategorized.

This is happening on my staging site so I am unable to share the URL.

This is absolutely driving me crazy.

Category Issue between Yoast & Pretty Links

I realized that the search engines were beginning to crawl my Pretty link categories and link tags (which is not what I wanted). I went into Yoast’s taxonimies and set the Pretty Link categories and link tags to ‘no index’. I left my regular categories and posts as they were already set (yes-index).

I just saw in Google Search Console that they are excluding my regular categories because they indicate “Submitted URL marked ‘noindex’”. The only changes made were for the Pretty Link categories and link tags.

I contacted Pretty Links and they feel that this is a bug in Yoast.

Hard Bug in Admin New Post

What does it happen?
This plugin creates a new menu option in new/edit post. A second option to select categories in new post option.

Well, the problem is: When you install this plugin, it overwrites all you selected in the default category list/select of WordPress, when you’re writing a new post.

So, if you think you selected the categories in default wordpress category box/menu (that’s is easier cause you can type the category name and it searches and shows only the categories that begin or include the word you typed) but nothings is shown when you publish.

When you submit the new post, if you dont use the box of categories of this plugin (theres is no differect if you hide id in options/show menu), the result is that all you’ve checked in default category menu/box of wordpress are overwritten by “no-category” option.

Its a conflict beetween the default menu/box category and the new menu/box category created by this plugin in admin new/edit post. (post.php)

So it erases the post categories Ive selected and publishes with “no-category” option.
Even if you edit the post and try again to select the right categories in default box/menu of category list, it overwrites again. So. Youre mandatory have to use the menu/box of this plugin, that in my case, is worse than the default wordpress menu/box category.

So I had to delete this plugin.

All posts appearing in parent category they're not assigned to

My blog is all about city breaks, so I have a parent category set as ‘citybreaks’. I’ve just noticed that all of my blog posts are appearing in the ‘citybreaks’ category page on my website (https://thiscitylife.co.uk/category/citybreaks/) even though in the back end they’ve not been assigned to that category. Only 4 posts have been assigned to ‘citybreaks’.

How do I stop all of the posts showing up on the website? As the main subject of my blog is city breaks and every now and then I post a random subject, I really need to make sure posts about other subjects aren’t being lumped in with city breaks!

Possible v2.8 bug – Unable to add Categories

For some odd reason, I’m unable to add any categories to my blog.

Whenever I click in a field to add a category name, the blank field actually “jumps” into the category listing window pane. It doesn’t allow me to type in the blank field unless I hold down the left-click of the mouse and type it in. Once I’m done typing in the field I’m still unable to save any settings. Nothing happens when you click the apply button.

At the time of this writing I only have, “uncategorized” as my only category. Any help is appreciated.

New category with post not apearing in widget

A time honored issue.

– A new category has a published post.
– The category does not show up in the category widget.
– The post can be viewed at it’s page seemingly in the proper category.
– The category in question shows up in the manage categories section, but with ( 0 ) posts.
– The post can be edited, and lists the proper category check box.

What wordpress table is faulty? Any ideas on how to force them to show up properly……
