I’m working on a store with 20+ subsidiaries, each one with the same items listed and organized in categories (outerwear, t-shirts, accessories, etc.) – My goal is to list all of the outerwear (under each subsidiary) at a 30% discount for the summer.

I created a pricing rule to accomplish this – I was able to list most of the outerwear at a 30% discount and set a start/end date for the sale. The plugin worked very well for most of the categories, though 4 of the categories aren’t showing up under the “categories in list” menu.

After installing the plugin, and writing my first post in another language with Polylang, I noticed only one category, out of 3, was transfered or copied over from the original post to the translated one. Plus, I cannot choose any other of the original categories (like PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360). Why does that happen?

Also, when I use search to look for the recent translated post, it doesn’t appear on the search results. Do I have to add a language string in search?

I googled first to resolve the issue, to no avail. Came here to the forums…no posts regarding missing categories and v.3.3.2. Tried several things, but than started having problems accessing parts of my site, then most blogs. (shared host) I spent HOURS trying to resolve the issue.

Using FTP, I could get into my root account, and deleted a lot of things in my /tmp/ folder. These seemed to be the fix mentioned by forum posters for several years now. Didn’t work for me.

Finally, called my host tech line, and finally got through to a real person. After checking in several other issues, I asked him to peek at the /tmp/ folder. He said it wasn’t full…but nearly so. He cleaned it out for me, and a few minutes later, my categories were all back, AND the categories that each USED to have were back where they were supposed to be.

Since starting with WordPress v.1.2 a LONG time ago, had never had this issue. Just wanted to post an update on this topic, that the /tmp/ issue seems to be THE fix for missing cats.

This is my first time I have not been able to find an answer by searching, I hope you can help.

The morning of the 6th I noticed portions of my interface at wp-admin/edit.php were missing. When I view the Post list it says “No Post Found” (image here). The posts still show on the blog, dashboard, and in the counter on the posts page.

This is happening on two separate domains/installations both on the same server at media temple. The first site is running 3.0.2 and was installed a couple of days before this issue hit. I have not yet activated any plugins and switching back to the default 2010 theme did not help. The second site is running 3.0.1 and I have not done any troubleshooting there.

Also, on the Add New Post page (wp-admin/post-new.php) the whole side panel with categories, tags, etc. is completely gone. Image here. Similar things are happening on the Media, Categories and Pages sections.

Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have a solution? Thanks a ton!

I am running my wordpress 2.8.6 blog on a custom domain And I noticed that my categories stop showing in side bar. Some times its also disappear from my dashboard too. But now I can see them. And all of posts gone uncategorized. If I edit post to assign category to it then in Categories pane I cant see any category in All Category tab, but Most Used tab shows all categories.

I hope my issue has been understood, and I hope to get useful pointers to identify this problem.
