All of a sudden, any upload attempt (multi, drag ‘n drop, browser) does not work. One method ends up on the page …wp-admin/media-new.php with a message of, “The page you were looking for could not be found…” I checked the cPanel and the file is there and looks normal. I haven’t touched any file other than header.php and that was through a plugin.
The other methods remain on the Media page and say, “Unexpected response from the server…”
I logged out, cleared the cache, tried again…same thing. Everything else works fine.
I’m not sure when today it happened, but this morning I upgraded TwentyTwenty after seeing the message in the dashboard, along with upgrading a few plugins that were all present before this issue.
Plugins: Anti-Span by CleanTalk, Contact Form 7, Loginizer, No Category Base, Options for TwentyTwenty, and Header Builder Pearl.
Any ideas?
Robb
]]>PLEASE FIX!!!
]]>* GoDaddy WordPress Managed Hosting (contacted them 4 times with no solution)
* Site previously built completely fine on this computer.
* Log on last week to continue working on the site.
* A few images uploaded fine, then when I tried again…
* Uploading images causes an HTTP error.
* Publishing changes causes a 408 timeout, or connection error.
* Adding posts, changing featured images, certain other back end settings work fine.
* Occurs on Firefox/Chrome/Edge, with many cookie and cache refreshes, etc.
* Made a few user accounts and doesn’t work on any of them.
Here is where it gets weird:
* Uploading images and publishing changes works on my cellphone and laptop (same router/modem)
* This computer is the only one it doesn’t seem to work on
* This computer works fine on 9 other wordpress client sites, tested them all (even another GoDaddy site)
* GoDaddy support was able to add images and publish fine – making it seem like the installation is just fine.
* They flushed my IP and my site, I did an ipconfig DNS flush, I unplugged and replugged everything multiple times, disabled/enabled windows firewall – still no luck.
* Each morning, one image or one publish change might slowly leak through as successful, but it stops there.
* When I run the Network tool on Chrome it seems to get stuck at /wp-admin/async-upload.php
* Saving Drafts, Adding new Categories or Tags to things all seem to work fine.
…so you see my dilemma. I have ruled out plugins, internet connection, wordpress installation, server, etc.
The only thing I know to be true:
1. It is only happening on THIS computer specifically.
2. It is only happening on THIS wordpress site specifically.
My initial thought was I somehow was put on an ip ban or something triggered a ban on just this computer – but once again it is confusing as I can upload media and make changes on other devices on the same router/modem.
Thoughts?!?! I am at a loss here.
Site is at https://repwindowsdoors.net for reference.
I am using a child theme so I reached out to my theme support. He suggested I activate the main theme just to see if that fixes the issue but that he has updated everything to be compatible. I found that is not causing the issue. He then suggested (and so did other forums) that I deactivate and reactive each plugin. I did that to no result.
Please help! I am thankful my site is still running and looks great, but I cannot edit it or create any new posts because of this! It has been a week and I just feel like I am wasting time.

]]>I am having a serious problem with a website I’ve been hired to design and build for a client, and it’s a problem I’ve never encountered before and I need some sort of fix/help ASAP because if I don’t get this thing live and working properly soon I’ll be in breach of my own contract for this job.
I’m using WordPress to build this site at the request of my client, and I have WordPress installed and working fine. The issue is trying to upload any of the images I need for this site to look the way it’s supposed to, and it appears like this has become a very common problem for a lot of people. I built this WordPress site using Headway, but I’m certain that’s not the problem because no matter what theme I use (even the default ones) I can’t upload any media. I’m always getting an error message saying the uploads directory can’t be created and asking if the parent directory is writeable (if using the multi-uploader) or “Error saving media attachment” (if using basic uploader). I have never run into this before, not even on my personal business/portfolio website (which is also WordPress). Is this a problem linked to the 3.8 series of WordPress? I’m on 3.8 now (got WordPress installed on the site just before the new update, and after seeing all the issues I’m scared to update even though I’m having the exact same problem on 3.8 as everyone else is on 3.8.1) but my own website is an earlier version and not having this issue.
I have a feeling it might also be a hosting/server issue, but I can’t be sure. The company I’m doing this site for already had everything purchased but has just been sitting on it until just recently when they hired me to create the site, and it’s through a company I’m not too familiar with (I’ve used GoDaddy personally up until now). This wouldn’t be the first server problem I had regarding getting this site up, as I spent all of last week working with the IT company that actually owns the domain name to resolve an issue where the server was reading all the files in wp-admin correctly but giving me a 403 error whenever it tried to read every other WordPress file, keeping the site from going live. I also can only upload the files otherwise through an FTP client, but uploading the images I need obviously doesn’t get them to appear in the media library for my use.
I have built this site already using Headway perfectly fine through a localhost set up with XAMPP, though I did run into the same media uploading problems and it only worked when I changed the file permissions so everyone with access to my laptop (which is just me, really) could read and write, which I didn’t have an issue with there since it’s a localhost, but that’s way too big of a security risk to take for the real deal for obvious reasons. I’m at a dead end and am turning to you guys for help in hopes someone has a solution that will get this to work, because I’m in a jam and trying to figure it out myself is wasting too much time that I’m starting to run out of for this project according to my own contract’s schedule.
If it’s needed, the site URL is https://arthurcorp.com/ and it’s using one of the default themes for now because I can’t import the Headway theme I’ve already created on my localhost (which would’ve had this site done in no time flat) without being able to upload the media that’s a part of it.
]]>I just added WordPress to one of my sites and I’m having all sorts of trouble in the Dashboard: I can’t edit posts, I can’t create a new post (I can edit a post’s title, but I can’t edit the post itself), I can’t upload media and I can’t delete the background image file via the Dashboard.
Anyway I have two domains from this web host: WebIntellects.
They tell me they are running:
SITE ONE (the site I’m currently trying to use):
PHP 5.2.17 (cli) (built: Jan 7 2011 08:49:48)
mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.77
SITE TWO:
PHP 5.2.12 (cli) (built: Dec 17 2009 22:30:32)
mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.90
As I understand it that should be compatible with the latest version of WordPress right?
The requirements to run WordPress:
PHP version 5.2.4 or greater
MySQL version 5.0 or greater
I haven’t worked in SITE TWO for awhile but SITE ONE is currently giving me trouble.
In addition to the problems I listed above, the “Live Preview” theme function doesn’t work. It loads the column on the left but the theme preview itself doesn’t load. It’s just a white screen. The browser display bar says the the page is fully loaded.
I’ve tried this and the other problems on Chrome, Safari and Firefox, on a Mac running Mountain Lion.
All of these are problems within the Dashboard so I can’t post a link so you can see them. The “live” page itself just looks like WordPress when you first install it, but with a specific theme in place.
That led me to wonder if there’s a permissions problem. But I can’t imagine how the permissions could have gotten messed up. I’ve run WordPress before on this web host and not needed to change permissions. And I don’t think the permissions theory explains everything.
Anyone here have a better idea of where I should start troubleshooting?
The problem may just be the web host. I really want to change web hosts but the I only just got back to using WordPress (I just finishing moving to a new city), and I pay my web host via an auto pay set up, that just renewed. So I’m not sure I can move my site to anther host. But I’ve had so much trouble with my web host it may be worth a little extra trouble to be rid of them.
Anyway, thanks for any advice.
]]>So, the problem is intermittent. I go to upload- it doesn’t matter if it’s from computer, or already in the media library. I can drop files, or use the browser- same problem.
