I use bravenet/bravehost. I’m used to it, even thought I have had problems in the past I’m not really wanting to change service providers. Learning curve is the issue, I know how to use what I’ve already got.
I understand HTML and can manipulate my template.
At some point I read that some of the free bravenet templates are available as wordpress free templates. I THINK the template I used here: https://www.sweettspad.com is one of them. If I’m remembering correctly, that’s one of the reasons I chose this template. I’d love to get the matching wordpress template, but I can’t figure out how to search for it.
Also, I want to match this site as well, https://www.anotsolazranch.com but not sure if wordpress has this one. If you look at the blog link you’ll see that I’ve already uploaded a theme that looks GREAT, better than the static pages if you ask me, but I want them all to look very similar, and they don’t.
]]>Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at ——-. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
I have gotten this message with every variation of the wp-config.php file I’ve tried. I’ve tried “localhost”. I’ve tried the “—-bravehost.com” from my account page. I’ve tried the database name plain and with the bravehost extension. I’ve tried installing a second MySQL database, but Filezilla doesn’t recognize it. In short, I’ve run through all the variables suggested on other Bravenet posts in this forum.
What’s going on and is there anyway to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

New to wordpress, saw a video, read the details, did every step exactly.
However, it is not working.
Bravenet can not help me, that’s where my hosting is.
This is the message I get when I type in https://www.escentedcandle.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

My domain is escentedcandle.com and the directory I chose is wordpress
I hope you can help me. My wp-config.php file has:
define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘wordpress-289738’); // The name of the database
define(‘DB_USER’, ‘——‘); // Your MySQL username
define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘——-‘); // …and password
I did not place my actual username and password above. However, when I create a new database with bravenet, it automatically has a dash and numbers as a suffix. So if I choose “Stimpy” as the name of the database, Bravenet calls it “Stimpy-289738”

Is this the reason it’s not working?
Please help.
Thanks.

]]>These are the kinds of errors I am getting:
“Unable to create directory /usr/local/apache2/misc/14/165/274/296/4/user/web/whateveryamericanshouldknow.com/wp-content/uploads/2006. Is /usr/local/apache2/misc/14/165/274/296/4/user/web/whateveryamericanshouldknow.com/wp-content/uploads writable? “
I have looked at the information on how to change permissions, and even asked Bravenet to modify them for me.
Am I correct in assuming that the folders needing extra permissions are the wp-content/uploads directories?
So, now I’m wondering if there are issues I don’t yet understand about using Bravenet to host the project.
Any insight or ideas? Has anyone experienced something close to what I describe using them?
Many thanks in advance.
