Using Shortcode with custom post type

I have a custom post type ‘recipes’ and works great in the single posts but does not work in my posts index loop. I see the elements are there and I have a count in the number of reviews but the background images for .author-rating are not showing up. Is this typical behavior or am I missing something?

Blog Index Page Fine but can't navigate to full post

In the settings area> Reading Settings > my Home page is listed as the static Front Page and the Posts page is directed to Blog. My blog is correctly showing the excerpts of my posts in the page layout selected in the theme customizer (I am using X Theme). However, the excerpt links go nowhere – neither the headline link or the read more link which are auto created through this theme are going anywhere. Additionally, when I go to the post editor the article is all there but a preview of the post gives me an error message. I realize I have something connected wrong, but I can’t find documentation to help me with this. I am new to wordpress and coding of any type so anyone who can help, please know that I need very beginner language! Thanks.

Blog index page

I’ve created a custom theme from scratch (as in not copying another one) for a friend of mine, and she’s asked me to put a blog index page in for her, and after several hours of searching for a decent tutorial, I can’t figure out how to do it.

I’ll admit, I’m a WordPress newbie, so I’m probably making some very basic mistakes, but at this point, I’m completely confused.

The site has a static homepage as well as other pages, but currently no posts aside from a test one.

Any pointers in the right direction would be fantastic. I don’t want to post any current code because quite frankly I’d rather scrap the whole lot and start from scratch.

Hi,

I’m looking for a way to remove the featured images box from the blog index page (which is not the home page on my website). There are no featured images, but there is a big blank box next to each of the excerpts on the page I am using as my blog and I would like to get rid of that. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance!

Post Titles Listed by Category on Blog Index Page

I am creating a blog with the homepage to serve as the blog index page. I’d like to list the post title in date order by category, in groups of 3. You will see on the screenshot the categories listed on left, with a thumbnail, and the most recent 3 posts in that category listed to the right of them.

How would I do this?

Alternatively, is there a widget I could use, just making the homepage a static page and use the widget to populate posts as such?

hi guys

can anyone help please? while building www.nicheitsales.com I somehow managed to create and set as a home page a blog index page, because it appears on the menu and comes up in search, instead of intended homepage.

I went to ‘settings’ and ‘read’, set it as static page, selecting the static ‘about us’ page as home page, the message on the page came up as ‘saved’ but no joy, in search it still comes up as accidental blank blog page.

Any ideas? Also, how do I delete the blog index page in question, as it’s to be a fully static website?
