I’m really happy with this. And it’s better than bit.ly because as you know WP is mega-powerful when configured right. You can easily get any of the premium features from Bit.ly inside of WP and you can see how your short links are doing that were generated with this plugin.

I have requested from the plugins team that this plugin be removed from the repository, with no response. The initial request was almost two months ago now and I have received no feedback. I will be immediately disabling a critical piece of the authentication process that I have been hosting at my own cost for the past year.

Anyone currently using the plugin shouldn’t see any change. Any new installs of the plugin will fail to authorize.

If anyone would like to take over development of this plugin please feel free to contact me.

Bit.ly shortened links quota

I created a new free bit.ly account that has 1,000 free links. My site has 3,000 existing posts and share buttons display at the top of each post.

Since entering Login/API key into the plugin 2 hours ago, bit.ly has racked up 567 Bitlinks, which is over 1/2 of the monthly quota allowed. There are 0 Total Clicks showing on the Bit.ly site.

My question is: Does the Sassy Social Share plugin run as a background task to update all my posts with a shortened link?

Hi,

I have configured the bit.ly login and API key but when I clink on the “copy link” button (int the post page) the plugin return the standard link to the clipboard.
Are there anything that I should do to have the bit.ly short link instead of the standard one?

I tried to post this on your support site and got the message “something went wrong”. I’ve gotten this error more than once lately. This is from a link posted on Twitter (from the Shareaholic button on my site at vegasnews.com)

Pages that I have submitted to Twitter using Shareaholic are now producing an error. Shareaholic generates a bit.ly link like this: https://bit.ly/2FXkdRF

Links that were working previously are now producing this error:

There is a good documentaton how to use bitl.y as a link shortener

The result is a link like https://bit.ly/xyz123
If I change the link manually in the adressbar of my browser to https://bit.ly/xyz123 it is also working.

Is there a chance to modify the above code that addtoanny uses https instead of http?

Bitly shortlinks not working

I’ve checked the box to replace all links with Bitly shortlinks for tracking purposes, added my Bitly account information and API, but it doesn’t seem to be working. All the links in my newsletters are showing just as I typed them in.

Top 10 vs. Google Analytics and Bit.ly

Just wondering why there would be such a big discrepancy between our Bit.ly clicks from social media, Google Analytics and the Top 10 metrics for our posts? GA and Bit.ly tend to be pretty close but Top 10 is typically showing only about 15% of their totals. I saw a previous question on this topic and you had suggested switching to “Query variable based” tracking, but we were already set with that. One current article is showing between 800-900 pageviews in GA, about 800 clicks on Bit.ly but only 197 at the bottom of the admin area for the post. BTW, we are only set to track posts, not pages.

Would appreciate any feedback or suggestions. The plugin is great (users love the front-end widget) so it would be nice if we could figure out what we’re doing wrong and utilize the metrics to their fullest.
