How to perform an AJAX search (with autosuggest) on a custom table in my WordPress database?

Has anyone been able to successfully add WooCommerce product thumbnails to the autosuggest results?

eg.
A vendor wants to add Steak (beef) to their store. Hierarchy is as follows;

Groceries
– Meat
– – Chicken
– – Beef
– – Turkey

If Vendor searches ‘meat’, we would like to also display the child/subcategories (Chicken, Beef, Turkey) in the search results….because possibly they are not aware that ‘beef’ category exists (and it is the preferred/accurate category).

Or even just display all related hierarchy – parents & children (this might be useful for other types of stores eg clothing whereby ‘trousers’ could be a child in Mens, Women, Children).

If anyone has any ideas about how to do this or useful links please let me know.

we installed the plugin on our website and so far it’s working fine. However, the augosuggest function doesn’t seem to work correctly. Basically it stops suggesting search terms once you enter more than one word. You can try it on the url below, just enter a word like “tile grout” or “tile adhesive”.
We’d appreciate any help on this topic.

I’m struggling to configure the autosuggest feature,

I followed the steps highlighted here https://github.com/10up/elasticpress-autosuggest to configure a location directive and proxy_pass to my ES cluster, yet, this is not working for me.

In the search bar, how do I make it auto-suggest, as the visitor start typing?

Fx:
When you type “m”..
.. then “Mexican” “Mango” and “Meat” will appear as suggestions in a dropdown.

Then you add “e”, so now you typed “me”…
.. then only “Mexican” and “Meat” will appear as suggestions in a dropdown.
