About 6 months ago, I noticed that they had been installed somehow, even though I had deleted them a while back. I called my hosting provider Bluehost who was adamant that they would not have been installed by their systems, but to be sure, it’s best to turn off the automatic updates setting. Which I did, and have been manually updating my plugins since.
Yesterday, despite the automatic updates setting still being disabled, the plugins were installed again. Furthermore, several plugins I was actively using were disabled automatically. I called Bluehost again and they were again adamant that this could not have been done by them. Yet, I am the only user for my site and my security plugin shows no other logins. Today, the automatic updates setting changed to ‘On’ out of the blue.
Essentially, I have no idea what is triggering these changes and I’m trying to find out what is going on so I can take steps to stop it from happening again.
Thank you!
]]>I could definitely update plugins automatically prior to 3.5. I waited a month while plugins updated before going to WP 3.5.
But I can’t seem to update any plugins. They say they’re updated, that the plugin has been activated, but when I go back to the Plugins list, I still have old versions.
I tried to install modules within another plugin yesterday and the same thing happened.
Any suggestions? I have my plugins folder and everything in it set to 777 permissions. My host does change the permission settings when things are uploaded to 644.
]]>When I go to my dashboard, the “Right Now,” “Quickpress,” “Recent Comments,” and “Recent Drafts” widgets work/load fine.
However, on my dashboard the “Incoming Links,” “WordPress Blog,” “Plugins,” and “Other WordPress News” widgets do not load. Their status bars just keep saying, “Loading…” Their configurations appear to be fine.
There is one thing I’ve thought that might be causing this problem. When I was designing the site, I used a temporary domain name (I say “temporary” only in the sense that it was a domain name that I didn’t intend to use for the final site). When I was finished, I switched everything over to the final domain name, booksnbots.com. I’ve had to manually switch some things over to booksnbots.com, and I used the Search & Replace plugin to switch all occurrences of the original (test) domain name to the final domain name.
Dashboard still doesn’t work properly, and I’ve also lost the ability to automatically install updates for plugins (or anything else for that matter). I’m having to manually intall everything now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
David Perdue

I’ve checked my server files, and I’m not seeing any conflict on the aforementioned lines that would cause such a problem.
Can anyone help me figure this out?

It also does the same thing when I try to install plugins.
