Unable to add images, where previously uploaded images could be. Get an error message:

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /blog/wp-admin/media-upload.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I’ve tried re-uploading the images, installed a fresh wordpress download, tried different themes, no change.

Can anyone help?

WordPress appropriateness

I am trying to decide how to build a website for a client who wants a site in the “Simplest language known to man”. He wants me to build the site, and he wants to be able to edit text on a main or home page, have a page for book reviews and articles that he offers (no associated reply or comment capability), and then a blog page.

I kept hearing about how easy WordPress is, and decided that I should check it out. So far it is much more complex than I had imagined from what I had heard, but for what he wants, with me defining the site and him just doing his thing with sections he can edit and a place to blog, maybe it is still appropriate.

I don’t want to waste a lot of time learning WordPress if it isn’t going to meet our needs (well, maybe I would like to learn it later – it looks interesting). So can anyone hear offer their opinion on WordPress’s appropriateness for this project?

Setting Proper Permissions?

I am needing to re-setup proper permissions on my server, though since I’m a n00b at setting permissions, I need a bit of guidance as to what to set, (i.e. 557, 577 etc.) so that I can be secure, but still able to download certain files from folders on my server.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated, my site is www.pesosforpenguins.com

Not Acceptable – Approriate Represenation of file

Whenever I paste something really long into a dialogue box of WP it tells me that the file has no representation..
Just now I was pasting a long list of about 30 urls to ping update once I made a new post and got this message

Can someone help me pleas

SO many people struggling with this, is there a definitive answer ?

My error is when clicking “you must be LOGGED IN to post a comment”, error:

“An appropriate representation of the requested resource /WPress/wp-login.php could not be found on this server”

The link seems to redirect to itself like this:

It’s a shame, but I’ll have to abandon WP and go to a more reliable blog I think.

I’m not exactly new to amateur web site development, having played around with FrontPage since about 1996, but I’ve recently become stumped on adding a blog to my personal web site. Most of the (mac) apps like iWeb, RapidWeaver and Sandvox seem to take the approach that you’re starting afresh, and your blog site will be your web site, rather than just an element in it. They are also very themes-based too, which makes it difficult for me to incoprorate them seemlessly into my site.

I’ll be honest, the coding of my website is nothing to be proud of, I can use FrontPage and have an understanding of HTML and the basics of CSS. All I really want is to be able to incorporate some blogging functionality into my site. The only option I’ve really come up with is WordPress, but having installed it onto my server, I’m a bit overwhelmed as to where to start; I’m only doing this for fun in limited spare time; I haven’t got the time or inclination to learn the concepts and syntx of PHP or understand CSS to any really great level – so is WordPress the right thing for me, or should I be looking elsewhere?

Sure, it would be easy just to say “go back to iWeb”, but although I’m an amateur I know what I want, and the apps I mentioned before are not going to give me that. I don’t want my content bar on the right, I don’t want my blog entry titles in red! But I want to be able to change these without having to spend days and weeks learning the “geek stuff” (no offence to anybody intended!). Or do I not have a choice?

Display pertinent comments under each post

At https://idahofallz.com we are trying to create a more ‘conversational’ interface.

We’ve got the ‘recent comments’ script, but people have said it does them little good since the comments are out of context from the original posts.

Obviously comments pertinent to a particular post appear on a post’s page.

How does one make comments appear on the front page (in The Loop) immediately below each post?

Better yet, how does one make comment excerpts (which are each linked to the full comment on the dedicated post page) appear on the front page immediately below each post?

So visitors would see:

Post (blah blah blah)

Comments made about this post:
* Comment 1 (blah blah blah …)
* Comment 2 (blah blah blah …)
* Comment 3 (blah blah blah …)

In this way, we can skim the reactions to posts without having to go to each page to see all the comments (which does not happen all that often).

I have tried several searches over several weeks now in the codex, support forums, across the web. It seems so obvious a design that I am sure someone has done this, but I keep getting nothing in my searches.

406 Not Acceptable

I’ve seen this error before on the forums, but no one’s been able to post an acceptable result, so here’s my problem:

I’m using 1.5, with the default kubrik theme, to which I’ve made significant modifications. If I try to update the sidebar.php file in the theme editor, I get this error:

Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /5280/wp-admin/theme-editor.php could not be found on this server.

Some people have said this is something to do with the host or something, but the posts I could find really lead me nowhere. This only occurs with the sidebar.php template when I press save. It doesn’t matter if I’ve made edits or not.
