Cannot login as Admin

I enabled Wordfence for our website’s security since it has been hacked twice. When enabled, I configured settings and now the day after, I cannot log in as admin. I ask my colleague to disable the wordfence and I got in but when we try to enable it back, it keeps loading. What could be the cause of this? I already checked the blocked IPs, my IP wasn’t there even the user blocklist. So the best solution was to disable wordfence temporarily. Please help.

FYI: The website has 3 security plugins, WPSecurity, ALLinOne Security and Wordfence

Hi there, My other website admin says he cannot get onto the site, he correctly enters his uname and pword but it just redirects him to the home page and doesn’t log him in, i’m not sure if this plugin is causing the problem or if its another plugin causing it

I have installed WordPress on a raspberry pi to take on the challenge of hosting my own site. I had everything up and running, going good, and I was going to look at something called Permanent links when I saw something called “my site” or my sites” or something along those lines. It had my public facing IP address in the field so I changed to to my new URL… I think that broke something because I can no longer bring up the PrivateIP/wp-admin/index.php to log in and when I got to the site itself, it doesn’t load correctly.

Does anyone have any idea what I did and how I might go about correcting it? Am I just effed and need to start from scratch?

Not only does the update bring with it a ton of features that are not needed for what the plugin actually used to do. But when it updated I got locked out of all my admin accounts as, guess what, they had symbols in them. Be warned if you have secure passwords, you might find yourself locked out.

I have changed the admin capabilities on my site as I was trying to add a new “limited” admin role. This has affected the main user (me… I thought I would always have god-like powers on my own site). Now I am locked out of most things. how can I restore basic admin capabilities?

Hi AITpro. I love your plugin, but I’m getting emailed reports, complaints and general confusion from clients about this JTC-lite thing. I get wanting to thwart dictionary attacks, but please don’t enable features like this by default. For people trying to access their admin dashboards using password utilities, they very quickly lock themselves out (because they ignore the 3rd input field). And many people already have measures in place to deal with this sort of thing.

Two thumbs down on having this stuff enabled out of the box.

That said, thanks for sharing your excellent plugin and expertise with the WP community.

Lockout “admin”

I have selected to “Automatically ban “admin” user” but I received several notifications like this:
Site Lockout Notification
Host/User Lockout in Effect Until Reason
User: admin 2017-06-26 15:36:44 user tried to login as “admin.”
Host: 194.15.117.19 2017-06-26 15:36:44 user tried to login as “admin.”

Why does it say the Lockout in “Effect Until”? It should not be unlocked?

Great idea and it should be the ultimate solution. However, I have been locked out of my site with the error
‘Too many log files to process, please delete or remove older authentication/ verification logs by visiting Log Options’

The ‘Log Options’ link goes to /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=xb_nmc_config&tab=logging_page. However, the same error results when you click this. Therefore, I am locked out of the admin of the site. Also, the problem isn’t resolved by renaming the plugin to disable it.

If / When I find a solution, I will post what I did on my site. For now, I am removing this plugin from all sites where I have installed it.

This morning, I deactivated CLEF, and tried to change my Admin Account password through GoDaddy Installatron, but received an error.
Tech support showed me how to change password in myPHPAdmin, and I tried to login with new credentials and now I am locked completely locked out despite me having Wordfence set to ignore my I.P. address and that of my emergency mobile hotspot backup access.

I’ve tried using only the userid and pw combo and the email address and pw combo. Neither works, and I;m actually locked out.

An end user experienced similar issue where he seemed to successfully reset his login multiple times, but it never let him in through normal request process. I had to manually change his password before it would allow him access.

I am using Chrome Version 56.0.2924.87 in a SurfacePro4.
