Admin Lockout IP Address

Over the past week or so, I’ve had repeated alerts from WordFence that a user with IP address xx.xx.xx.xxx has been locked out, due to repeated attempts to log in with an invalid user name/password. This also locked ME out of my own site, and I was unable to get into the site, even with the admin email function. I understand that’s a separate issue, but interestingly, I do get the WordFence alerts at the same email. Not sure why the admin lock-out bypass is not working properly.

Once I was able to log-in, I changed the path from wp-admin to another directory, using a plug-in. When I log in to the back-end, the SAME IP address is reported as having logged in successfully. It maps to a googleusercontent.com IP, which is definitely not me, and matches the unsuccessful attempts to hack the admin.

So why is WordFence reporting that I am logging in using an IP address that continually tries to log-in, and is clearly not MY IP address?

Additionally, if I block that user IP at the host, it blocks me from logging in as well.

is there a compatibility issue with wp super cache and itheme security?
every time i try to install wp super cache i have to deactivate i theme security.
i clear the cache in wp super cache settings – as i read i have to do.
once i activate itheme security – i cant a white screen in the admin, and have access to nothing, until i erase wp super cache using the FTP.

help anyone?
what am i doing wrong?

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user()
After installing BPS on a multisite install, website is broken (slider image not displaying) and can’t login to backend, getting this message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in …/public_html/wp-includes/capabilities.php on line 1451.

BPS is not network activated, only activated on primary site. Hotlink protection is disabled on server. File permissions have not been changed (public_html/ and wp-admin/ are both 0755 and files are 0644). I have deleted .htaccess from both public_html/, and wp-admin/ but this hasn’t resolve the issue. Interestingly the WP admin toolbar is still visible upon viewing the website (i.e. I still seem to be logged in as super admin) but there is absolutely no functionality in it — everything results in above error message — except for viewing the primary website, yet neither of the other two network sites frontends are visible, resulting in 404 Not Found errors.

I am using SSL for login and admin. wp-config.php was sitting above /public_html/ and all was working fine before. I have moved it to public_html/ but still no joy.
Tried to unlock user account with bpsunlock.php, but get this message:
Connected To Database: localhost Successfully.
The User Account has already been unlocked or the User Account Does Not Exist.

Host is Net Origin (netorigin.com.au), Apache Linux server.
I am totally locked out of the admin area.

I am having a security issue on the WP.org site. I have two admin (myself and I other) and we both were locked out of the admin view at same time. Our passwords both did not work. We both were also unable to request a new password… it would show us the screen, we would do the request, but never got the reset. I have done numerous HTML type security scans and they all come back clean. the website https://westonranchcommunityassociation.com just recently changed from wp.com to wp.org. (still shows the https://69.89.31.192/~westonr2/wp even though I changed nameservers recetly). I was asked to reset my password in this WP.ORG forums, got the email, and it allowed me to enter the forum, but still not the wp.org website. Novice here. I contacted host (bluehost) to see if they can help. Any suggestions? Recently changed a SEO plugin to add social media (FB)

Locked out of Backend

I can’t get into the admin backend after upgrading. The log-in screen redirects to ‘https://www.smartrelationships.org/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2F’ where I get a nice message saying “WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version. The update process may take a little while, so please be patient.” If I click on the button that says “Update”, I’m redirected to ‘https://www.smartrelationships.org/wp-admin/upgrade.php?step=1&backto=%2Fwp-admin%2F’ which is a nice blank screen with WP logo at the top. I have tried renaming my theme and my plugin folders, but it still takes me through the same dead loop. The site is still functioning fine, but I can’t get into the dashboard.

Any suggestions?

Hi guys,

For the past 4 days, I have been locked out of my website. I go to log in and it tells me – ERROR: The password you entered for the username [ redacted ] is incorrect. Lost your password?

I change the password – still no good.
I change the password with my host – still no good.

It is driving me insane and no one seems to know what is wrong with it. Is it possible that I am locked out via wordpress?

Hello.
No matter what browser i use, i’m getting this error:

ERROR: Invalid email or username. Lost your password?
ERROR: Cookies are blocked or not supported by your browser. You must enable cookies to use WordPress.

I’ve changed my cookies permissions to accept cookies. could it be the cache? thanks for your help

Admin locked out regardless of password

Tried to log on to my site and do some updating and was surprised to get a User Account Locked Out message when I tried to login. Figuring I messed my PW I followed the processes to change the PW and no matter what I do I keep getting “ERROR: This user account is locked for security reasons. Please use Lost Password option to unlock it.”

Have changed the PW via phpMyAdmin 3 times now and it still won’t let me log in. It’s not only the admin but my regular user account as well.

Appreciate any ideas / suggestion.
