I have a website on www.remarpro.com, and with it email .. lots of emails. I want to leave the emails as-is but change www.remarpro.com settings to allow me to connect to my finished WP site hosted elsewhere.
Just curious ….
1. Do I change A, or MX records to do this?
2. Is there anything I need to change on my WordPress website to make this work?
Thank you so much!
Mike
I have an existing domain <mydomain.com.au> which was pointing at a cpanel webhosting account using an A record (ip <123.45.67.9>)
From within the existing cpanel webhosting, i want to now point that same domain name at a wordpress multisite subdomain installation on google cloud.
Please note, i have other subdomains on this same google cloud installation that a being pointed at it directly from registrar using an A record, and i have also tried this method with the <mydomain.com.au> and it works no problem.
What i am trying to achieve is to be able to do this from a webhosting cpanel account rather than from registrar.
I went into webhosting Cpanel and added the following
<mydomain.com.au> = A record <google cloud Instance External IP address>
using the domain mapping plugin on my Google Cloud WordPress Multisite, i have mapped Site ID = “<the actual site id number>”
Domain = <mydomain.com.au>
however when i navigate to the wordpress installation in a web browser, the website keeps reverting back to the original webhosting server.
A dns trace also keeps showing the old hosting server ip address.
How may i point an existing domain at a new wordpress multisite subdomain on a different server (with the same domain name) using cpanel?
I must also advise…the wordpress installation is irrelevant as i am not taking the same wordpress website over to the new hosting service…its simply pointing the domain name only.
I do not want to do this from the registrar end, i already know how to do it that way…it must be achieved from the existing webhosting cpanel.
I’m also having issues with the wildcard domain on my server. I deleted the wildcard subdomain records, because it was causing issues with cpanel and webmail. I prefer to set up each site manually. However my site seems to still be doing wildcard subdomains… I’m not sure why. Just thought I’d share that in case it’s relevant.
Anyway, how do I configure my Multisite or MU Domain Mapping to stop linking to subdomains when accessed from the client’s main domain?

]]>My domain is using A Records to point mail for the domain to another server. So the website and the email are handled by different servers.
So when I use contact form 7 to send a form it works fine to any emails except any that are to the account domain name.

I have tried to use WP Mail SMTP to and it tests fine via the plugin test but fails to send with my contact forms.
Any work arounds for this?
Thanks in advance.

]]>I believe the issue is related to the fact I have all my domain names managed separately over at NameCheap.com… and the fact that my domain name (OceanscapeArts.net) is pointed to my webhost (SiteGround.com) only via A record:
https://www.dnswatch.info/dns/dnslookup?la=en&host=oceanscapearts.net&type=A&submit=Resolve
SiteGround says this means that my “DNS zone is not hosted with us and the wildcard subdomains configuration is not working properly.”
Does anyone know the proper way to set this up then? SiteGround claims they don’t know how. Do I need to create a different record over at NameCheap.com? Anyone have experience with this? I’m imagining I’m not the only WordPress multisite setup on a webhost while managing my domain separately.
]]>The domain DNS is currently pointing to:
A Records name.com.au ? 11.111.121.11
CNAME Records www.name.com.au ? name.mymultisite.com.au
In WordPress Multisite under Domain Mapping I have put the same IP address (eg. 11.111.121.11). Then under Domains I have pointed that Site ID to name.com.au
I’ve waited but no dice. I don’t have a website to show at name.com.au but can view at name.mymultisite.com.au. Where have I gone wrong.
Please and thank you for your help wonderful WordPress Support folk!

]]>I need to obtain my CNAME address or A records. Can you help me with this? Or can you tell me who I can ask for it. It is one.com that says I need it to get my site in the air.
Thank you.
]]>I have tried installing to complyme.com.au/metricon and the install goes ahead, but I cannot visit the site, and also cannot get into the dashboard/login page.
Any ideas? If it helps, the A records for www.complyme.com.au and complyme.com.au both point to the correct host, where as *.complyme.com.au points to a VPS…
Would really appreciate the help. I don’t usually run into issues this early on!
]]>I created a website with Weebly and need to point my domain to their servers. Can you set this up for me or walk me through the process of making these changes? I need to create A-Records for “www” and for my root domain. That’s one record for “www” pointing to 199.34.228.59. And one record for the root domain pointing to 199.34.228.59.

Note that I want to keep using you as my domain registrar. I am not requesting a transfer and do not have new name servers to provide you.
Thanks!
