banish borders everywhere

If you look at this page I’m working on you’ll see the black borders at the top of the sidebar, between widgets and on the main column. I’ve been inspecting elements left and right and I cannot figure out where to put border=none in the ‘additional css’ box.

This is a simple thing, but I’ve done nothing big with wordpress for some five years. I’d appreciate a hint.

2016 theme classic editor

I think my questions are very basic. I’m using 2016, classic editor (I just do not have time to puzzle through the block business). Three things I’d like to do:

remove the menu and menu bar from the header
2016 customization is very simple and does not include a way to chose font or font size. Right now I see different paragraph styles in different paragraphs, but I don’t know where that css is or how to get to it. Thus I’d like to add a chunk of css to take care of this.
again, customization doesn’t provide a way to alter bars or lines, and I’d like to get rid of them all.

Right now I am working with a staged site, and I’m not sure if the stage url will work for people. Please yell if there’s a better way to let people see the site. Any/all advice greatly appreciated.

2016 Theme Banner Not Showing

The banner is smaller than that required by the theme, and used to show up!

I suspect the issue is affecting site speed to, as it is snail like.

I tried a png instead of a jpeg but no difference.
Any thoughts?

Can’t change text font or size

I am having trouble using Easy Google Fonts to change the basic paragraph text in my posts. I’m using WordPress with the 2016 theme. The text was input using simple cut and paste from a Word doc. When I try to change the font, the only thing that changes is text that I entered (edited) after the paste was made. I tried to create a new font control, but when I Inspect that text, I get something that I can’t interpret. The only thing I saw that might be a font control was “span”. I’ve tried to insert a copy of the Insert screen, but can’t seem to do it.

Ideas?

Move Meta Data under Post Title

I would like to move the meta data (date only) so that it appears only under the post title on the blog page. I will also need the space it occupies to be removed. The child theme I am using has a page width of 928px so the full-width solutions do not work for this site.

Then, I would like the post page (single post?) to include the date under the title as well. I have managed to remove it completely – whoops – from this page

but again the space it previously occupied to the left of the post is still there.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Add menu to header

I would like to add the main navigation menu to the header to the right of the logo. I have been able to add it below the logo, above the header and below the header, but not IN the header. Any suggestions?

Menu – remove link – 2016 theme

I’d like to remove the link from a menu item in the 2016 theme. In previous themes you could do a work around by making a custom link with no URL. However, that is not possible with 2016. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Theme customiser does not work on any theme nor with a new install

I have installed a fresh WordPress and the theme customiser is stuck on “Customise:Loading”. There are no active plugins. Its on the 2016 theme.

This is plaguing me and would really like to get it working… any ideas?

2016 theme — Understanding Backgrounds and background colors

Hello!

I am trying to modify the 2016 theme so that the background image shows through on all pages. Which means that the background color needs to be transparent. I see there are two color settings: Background Color and Page Background color. It appears that the Page background color overrides all other settings, even the Background color setting…;-/

In another post, someone asked on how to disable the background color and they were told to enter this code in the Styles.css file:

body {
background: transparent;
}

However this does not change anything in my site.

What am I missing?
Is there another spot that needs to be disabled (Made transparent)?

White Screen on mobile devices

I have the Vantage Theme 1.5
I kept getting messages from our google ad that the site was not mobile friendly.
I loaded the plug in WPTouch to make it mobile friendly; now when using a mobile device the screen shows as a white page (I tired i-phone, Blackberry and Android all with same result). I even tried to deactivate the plug-in and it still comes up as a white screen.

I need to get this fixed asap since 90% of our website calls come from mobile devices.
Also I am a novice at this so a simple fix; not a bunch of formatting code instructions in techno-verbiage would be greatly appreciated.
