]]>I’m currently using their managed wordpress website plan and the FTP is currently unwriteable/uneditable. I need to edit htaccess and delete folders but it wont allow me.
I contacted them and they told me I can change to Standard installation. I checked the page but it says that if I change that I cannot revert back. I’m afraid I will break the website. Anyone here using their standard installation? or any experience with 1and1?
I also don’t like they force me to call them but I live in another country so timezones are totally different and it will cost me a truckload of money to call abroad.
]]>It tells me error establishing connection with the database.
I have already used migrate-db in many cases before.
]]>All of a sudden im getting this error when i try to upload

]]>After a lot of screaming and hair pulling I have a cert installed. In my 1and1 control panel it shows it installed and activated on my domain. When running their website checker, it shows the domain has an SSL cert and it is functional. When running the SSL checker at www.ssllabs.com I get all “A”s.
When I change nothing and visit https://www.allans-stuff.com/ I get a messed up site. If I manually change the https://… to https://… under Settings->General->WordPress Address and Site Address, the site refuses to load.
I then thought about using the Really Simple SSL plugin and it says “No SSL was detected” and suggests that I check the SSL with www.ssllabs.com which of course I do and it passes. It also suggests I click a link to reload the page using SSL, this shows a scrambled page.
I am at a loss and could really use some help.
]]>I am running in a bit of an issue. I have a wordpress site with multiple subsites, which are essentially used by my customers. I offer them a custom backend that I have developped.
Up to now, I always owned the domain names. For the record, all my domain names and my hosting are with Godaddy.
I am running into a bit of an issue. One of my customers has his own domain name with 1and1. I told him to redirect his domain name to the subsite. Then, I created an alias in Godaddy, mapped the subsite with WordPress MU Domain Mapping and finally I changed the site’s URL through the admin network editing page. Basic stuff.
However, I am running into a big problem. When I write the address using my client’s domain name registered with 1and1, I end up with Error 404s on all pages of that subsite.
Any one ever experienced that problem? How would you solve that problem? Is it possible to use multiple registrars?
]]>I installed the site via FTP and manually created the wp-config.php. When I attempt to add a theme or plugin I get the error “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.remarpro.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”
I was able to manually add the twentytwelve theme from zip file.
Also, on the Dashboard home, WordPress News has these two errors, which seem like they may be related:
“RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: There are no HTTP transports available which can complete the requested request.”
and
“RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: 10060: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.”

]]>Here’s the deal. I bought a domain from 1 and 1 and recently bought a package of basic wordpress. I did install it but the problem is my domain doesn’t seems connected. Maybe it’s a stupid question but I’m a newbiew here with no idea. I search but nothing I understood. hahaha.
I want to know exactly what to do.
Like I have this 1sw3248.initial-website.com and mydomain.com in my DOMAIN CPANEL and in BASICWPRESS CPANEL I have webtitle.apps-1and1.com.
I was able to connect my domain to blogspot before, so I thought maybe it’s the same process. But I need more clear instruction in layman’s term as I am inaccapable of understand some nerdy terms here.
thanks for any help!
]]>Is there a way to get around using OpenSSL?
I realise that it’s likely going to need sorting out on the server side, but I’m curious as to why the standard PayPal payments work and not this one. Would a normal SSL certificate do the same job?
Is there anything that can be done to avoid having to mess about with the servers? The site’s currently on a 1and1 shared hosting plan, which probably isn’t ideal. Would you recommend moving the site to a different host?
