Dear developers of the theme,

One of my websites has been using (a child theme based on) the excellent Surfarama theme as parent theme for years now. I still think it is a great theme and suits our community’s needs just fine.

However, each time after a parent theme update, my site ends up with an invalid SSL ‘mixed content’ situation because the Surfarama theme loads some Google Fonts assets by http instead of https.

In the Surfarama theme’s styles.css at the top some Google fonts are loaded directly from within the css:

@import url(https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:300,400,400italic,700);
@import url(https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:800);

A quick fix would be:
@import url(https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:300,400,400italic,700,800);

This should work just fine for sites that are served over http instead of https.

Recent comments from my posts and a list of archived posts have recently started showing up on my homepage. I’ve tried editing my widgets and deactivating and reactivating all my plugins but neither of those things helped. I’m using Google Chrome and my computer runs on Windows 8. I’m using the surfarama theme at my site (https://www.ufrgs.br/bibliotecacentral/) but i’m having some problems with the header logo in the mobile version.

How is possible to make the logo centralize (to show the draw in the middle) or resize it automatically?

I’ve been trying to change the css code with some examples that I found at internet, but I’ve not been successfull…

I’m in the process of moving from one webhost to another.

Under the current website, the site (linked) displays correctly. This site is a standalone WordPress install.

But under the new site (linked), which I will change the domain name for once live, only a few settings are saved. The new site a site under a WordPress Multisite setup.

When in the Customise view on the new site, it shows the settings correctly. But after saving, then viewing the website, the settings still haven’t taken. Example is the default color (eg in the menu & around the search button in the header), and the category label at top right of each post on the home page.

I’m using a child-site of the original theme, but the same thing happens when using the original unchanged theme.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it?

When I post my website on Facebook, there is no preview image or site logo preview.

and the image that goes along with the title will not show up. I have
edited this blog post twice and entered two different images. Note that all
you see is “Models of Etretat” but no accompanying image. I like surfarama
since it will automatically take the image embedded in the blog post and put
this in the main page. No other theme seems to be smart enough to do this.

I have made about 120 posts on this blog and not seen this problem
before of an image put in the blog post body that does not appear when
the blog is published.

Any ideas?

What I would really like to do is to have a different side bar on some pages, so that the links in there are specifc to that post. Is this possible with the Surfarama theme?

I’d like to ad some more social media links and icons at the header. How to do it by editing php files?

For example I want to change Yelp to VK and add Pocket.

Read some support questions about Google adsense not working with this theme. Didn’t see any answers. I love the theme but before I commit, I need to make sure it works with Google Adsense because I will definitely want to use that. Has anyone had success? Can you confirm that I am not going to have issues using Google Adsense?

I have just started using WordPress and have some experience with HTML/CSS but for now it’s confusing me loads.
Three things I need help with:
– On my home page I would like to get rid of the widgets. I love using them on other pages but want my home to be clear. If I put there only 1, it works, if I take all away there are all of a sudden 4 random ones shown.
– Using a plug-in I changed the some of the fonts used in this theme. However, I would like the fonts for blog post titles on my home to be bigger but then the multiple-line ones overlap eachother because of the small line-height, but I can’t find where to change this.
– Goes together with the last one. I would like to show on the home page posts only the category, featured image and title but without an excerpt. Is that an option?

Hope someone can help me with these issues, am totally loving the theme by the way!

I love the theme and have managed to get everything to work perfectly apart from the header. I cannot get it to dynamically resize for mobile viewing no matter what I do – I have tried several pieces of code from the internet.

I run a blog and very much like Surfarama. For my 74th post in

I was unable to get the front page (what the theme creates) to work.
There was the title of my blog at the top of the page, and then a small
smiley face (not kidding) and that was it–the rest was blank. So I have
temporarily switched to another theme until the issue is resolved.

Has anyone else seen their home page, with Surfarama turned on as
the current them, blank with a tiny smiley face?

Something has happened. The theme doesn’t look the same. The menubar and the picture in the header is gone and there is no mobileversion any more. Is is just my site? Is it something I can do to fix it?

Since today, the WordPress website I am managing is suddenly glitching enormously while viewing it with Internet Explorer. While everything looks just fine in Firefox, Chrome and other browsers, for some reason blockquotes don’t display properly in Internet Explorer.

Take a look at this page, for example: https://www.dagelijksestandaard.nl/2015/01/haatimam-fawaz-jneid-moslims-mogen-niet-sympathiseren-met-charlie-hebdo/ . It looks just fine in any other browser, but IE decides to add a huge amount of blank space before displaying the blockquotetag. I can’t seem to find how this problem suddenly appeared, or even why it appeared.

Is there anyone here who could give me a few pointers? I don’t know why IE generates so much white space. And most importantly: I’m lost for solutions.

We are new to WordPress and we are in the middle of customising the Surfarama theme via a third party. However, they have advised us that to actually use this theme we would need to have a Business account on WordPress because that’s the only way to install a custom theme.

Is this correct? I cannot find information about this on the WordPress site.

We have a WordPress Premium account. What I wanted to do was to install a Surfarama WordPress site using this account. We are hosting this ourselves (company server).

I really like this theme and thanks for providing this for free. I have a little problem though. I want to place flags in place of social media buttons and I edited the header. The links are there but the images are not showing. I can see links when I hover my mouse in the left side of search button. Please check.
