hi is there a way to turn off the drop capss for every post on my site????
Hi, I would like to be able to change the button’s color, font, and shape.
What css class should I point at?
So you know how when you mouse-over the stuff in the header (e.g. the site name/description and the slide-open menu toggle) it kind of brightens? Is there a way to turn that off, so it’s always in that brightened state without you having to mouse-over it?

I cannot get a child theme of scrawl to work correctly. I create a child theme with 2 files, functions.php and style.css. The contents of those files is listed above.
Whenever I activate the scrawl child theme, the info put into the url for the parent style sheet is always set to ‘scrawl-child/style.css’ rather than ‘scrawl/style.css’. I use the same code in a child theme for the ‘atomic-blocks’ theme, it is just not setting the path correctly in the generated code. This is the code generated:

Where does that ‘-child’ come from??

Hi,
I’d like to change the appearance of the gallery grid in my child-theme so that the vertical white-gap matches the horizontal white-gap. In other words, i’m trying to make the vertical and horizontal gaps equal.
I’ve used the following css to remove the default border, in case this is relevant, though it doesn’t seem to be.
.gallery img {
border: none !important;
}
I haven’t been able to identify the right css using Inspector. Any help /pointers to the right css to manipulate the gaps is appreciated.
Regards.

Hey!
From the moment I installed the following plugin” Change Table Prefix” I got the error “oops that page can’t be found” for the pages connected to Woocommerce.
I am not sure it is correlated.In fact, when I deactivated the recently installed plugins (including the mentioned plugin), I still had the problem.
The strange thing is that when I am connected as an a administrator, the page does not have a problem. It is only when I log out.
I did the steps proposed by WPBeginners (https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-wordpress-posts-returning-404-error/) and even others, but nothing seems to work.
What can be the problem?
“Featured Image” seems not to display for a page in Scrawl theme — but works as it should for posts. I have examples of both in this blog I’m trying to setup. Tried this on multiple browsers and in classic and block editor modes. In Classic, I can see the image hovering up high, but it disappears when the page is published. Using current version of Chrome primarily, on OS X 10.14.1.
Unrelated, I reported another bug in Scrawl (which I still really want to use!). I see a case was made for it and posted on GitHub. Wondering what became of this? Here’s a link to that: https://github.com/Automattic/themes/issues/650
Thanks!

Hi,
Love the Scrawl theme! It’s great! So clean and streamlined ??
I was just wondering whether there’s some way to change it so that the Archive page shows just an excerpt of each post (or, if not, just the post title) instead of showing the whole post itself?
Thanks!
I would love it if this theme got upgraded for WordPress 5, thus allowing the use of all of the new Gutenberg blocks, as it’s my favourite minimalist theme to date and I’d like to keep using it. I find it similar to more recent themes such as Rich Tabor’s Tabor & Coblocks themes, yet I prefer the functionality of Scrawl more so, especially the slide-out sidebar which works great when viewing the site on a tablet or phone.

Hi!
Does the Scrawl theme enable you to have a social link to your Medium account (as well as the accompanying Medium icon)? I’ve searched the forums, but haven’t found anything specifically related to this.

Hi, Loved your theme.
I need help though, there is a post in the demo about a book and in the post footer, there is pagination.
I am not a regular developer, how do I achieve that?
Thanks,
again, a wonderful theme.
The theme produces a super-sized first-letter in Posts and on the Posts-page excerpt. How do i change this so it doesn’t happen…? I want the first-letter to behave as all the others, without this unique formatting.
It’s specifically a problem on the Posts-page, as the excerpt does not center correctly: the first-letter is justified to the left while the remainder of the text is centered, as it’s supposed to be.
With thanks in advance for your help.

How can I integrate social sharing buttons at the end of each post? I’m not referring to external plug-in, but something like this:

Hi.
I currently have ‘Posted on” on my posts, showing the date, and also operating as a link.
I’d simply like to remove the link, while keeping the information. (Ideally by editing in child-theme file rather than css.) So the ‘posted on’ information appears, but isn’t a link.
-As a secondary request, if it’s also possible to remove the day (keeping the month and year) please let me know.
Thanks in advance

I’ve changed the appearance of the blog-page to show the blog-title, using the following code added to index.php:

Postcards from Outer-Space

</header
Is it possible for the blog-title to remain visible /static as you scroll-down the page?
– The Site-title behaves this way. This is all the css i’ve used for that:
/* CENTER SITE-TITLE */
.site-branding {
width: 100%;
text-align: center;
}
/* TITLE VISIBLE on SCROLL and White-Space Manipulation*/
.site-header {
position: fixed;
top: 0;
opacity: 1;
z-index: 1;
background-color: #FFFDFD;
padding-bottom: 5px;
}
.site-branding {
margin-top: 10px;
}
.entry-header {
padding-top: 10px;
}
I appreciate this might be a bit tricky… it would be good to know why it can’t be done, if this is the case, to help my overall understanding.
With thanks.
Hello,
I’m trying to display a thumbnail of the image in a post on the Blog-page. I used a plugin (Easy Custom Auto Excerpt) on another site using Scrawl to achieve this for text, but i can’t use the plugin for thumbnails (without upgarding).
I’m aware of ‘featured-image’ -however, this also then features the image at the top of the post itself (so the image appears twice in the post) which is not ok.
Question: Should i find another plugin, or can i achieve this by editing my child-theme?
With thanks.
(For demo purposes, atm, i’m using the Excerpt-plugin which allows me to show a thumbnail aligned to the left -i’m unable to align it to center, which is how i want it to appear.)

Hi,
I have an on-going issue with the Site-Title and Post-Title as they appear when viewed on my phone in portrait-orientation.
A part of the Post/Page-Title is obscured by the white-space of the Header-area (Site-Title area).
This is only an issue when the Site is viewed on a phone in portrait-orientation.
I have asked for support on the ‘Header-area obscuring the Post-Title’ before, and the code i was given resolved issues i was having on the desktop-Site and mobile-site -but, i can’t fix this phone-in-portrait issue with the code i’ve got.
This is the code which controls all the changes made to the theme’s Header-area /Site-Title:
/* TITLE VISIBLE on SCROLL and White-Space Manipulation*/
.site-header {
position: fixed;
top: 0;
opacity: 1;
z-index: 1;
background-color: #FFFDFD;
padding-bottom: 0px;
}
.site-branding {
margin-top: 8px;
}
.entry-header {
padding-top: 10px;
}
*The only way i can get the Page-Title to appear as i want on my phone is to change the ‘padding-top’ value to 80px -this then appears perfectly; however, it also ‘pushes’ the Page-Title too far down on the desktop /tablet-sites…
-Although this is a working solution across all devices, it also feels like an unnecessary compromise… i’d appreciate any helpt out there.
With thanks

Hi,
I was trying to change the appearance of my child-theme by editing the functions.php file -the changes i was making didn’t work, so i deleted them and restored the functions.php file to its original state: the Site is not loading as it should anymore. To confirm, everything was working as it should before i touched the file.
Does anyone have an idea of what’s gone wrong?
Functions.php looks like this:
<?php
function my_theme_enqueue_styles() {
$parent_style = 'scrawl';
wp_enqueue_style( $parent_style, get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css' );
wp_enqueue_style( 'child-style',
get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/style.css',
array( $parent_style ),
wp_get_theme()->get('Version')
);
}
