Hi folks,
Example: https://www.fifthestate.org/product-category/print-edition/
The page background on my site is mauve: #F7EDDC
This works well in my WooCommerce store, except for the product display on Category pages, which appears white.
I tried the following CSS, which didn’t fix the problem:
/* make product in category background Mauve */
.single-product #main-content {
background-color: #F7EDDC;
}
I would be grateful for any help with this…

Hello,
Suddenly checking my website with pagespeed i got a pensalty in accessibility for:
Uses ARIA roles on incompatible elements
Many HTML elements can only be assigned certain ARIA roles. Using ARIA roles where they are not allowed can interfere with the accessibility of the web page. Learn more about ARIA roles.
<aside id=”secondary” class=”widget-area custom-home-widget-section home-widgets” role=”complementary”>

Is there a fix?
Thank you

The widgets in my sidebar have a lot of space between them. How can I reduce these spaces? If this involves CSS, I’d need the idiots guide as I am not experienced in this kind of editing…

Hi Responsive Theme Folks,
I’ve recently upgraded from Responsive Theme Version 3.11 to Version 4.9.8, and with Version 4.9.8, I’ve noticed the Site Branding and Site Navigation elements now display inline (i.e., side by side), whereas on Version 3.11, these elements displayed block/on their own lines. Is it possible via the Responsive Version 4.9.8 UI to make the Site Branding and Site Navigation elements display block? Or is CSS the only way to make this type of layout work?
FYI, below is one example CSS rule I’m employing:
site-header-layout-horizonal .site-header .row { flex-direction: colum; }.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Best regards,
Matthew Huntley
After updating the Responsive theme to version 5.0.9, the site breaks with the following error:
An error of type E_PARSE was caused in line 51 of the file /home/tgkeigckuwrp/public_html/wp-content/themes/responsive/core/includes/customizer/settings/class-responsive-content-header-typography-customizer.php. Error message: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’
Looking at the class-responsive-content-header-typography-customizer.php file, line 51 reads:
responsive_separator_control( $wp_customize, 'breadcrumb', $breadcrumb_separator_label, 'responsive_breadcrumb', 105, );
This is true of other versions downloaded as a package, but the TracBrowser indicates that this is introduced in version 5.0.9 where versions 5.0.8 and earlier (that I’ve checked) show the following code:
responsive_separator_control( $wp_customize, 'breadcrumb', $breadcrumb_separator_label, 'responsive_breadcrumb', 105, 'responsive_active_breadcrumb' );
Replacing just that line with the reverted code does not fix the site.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hello,
I am trying to use the gradient CSS to color the background of one page. I managed to do this with this code:
.site
{background: #000000;}
However, it does not color the footer. I need to have the color cover the whole background of the page from top to bottom. I need this as I would like to use the gradient CSS for the whole background.
I hope you can help.

Hi,
Our website uses the Responsive theme, it’s been a good theme, thank you.
On our home page, we have three sticky posts.
2 of those posts have text underneath the heading, but not the post with a heading of “Welcome 2024!!!”.
Can you please help us so the text does show?
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
Today I updated the Responsive theme from version 5.0.3 to 5.0.4.
Since updating the Responsive theme, when the Responsive theme is active, my website is inaccessible.
Could you fix this bug in a 5.0.5 update?
Sincerely
Roberto
Hi, I have today updated the Responsive theme from version 5.0.1 to 5.0.4.
Since updating the Responsive theme, when the Responsive theme is active, my website displays a malware message and redirects the site to another website.
I deactivated all the plugins and there was still a redirect issue.
However, my site is fine when the default twenty twenty-four theme is active. It is also fine when other WP themes are active. It doesn’t redirect. The redirect is only happening when the new Responsive theme version is active.
I have deleted the Responsive theme and its associated plugin for now as I am not convinced by it.
Can you advise where I can get a previous version of the Responsive theme so I can get my site back up and running.
Any ideas why the site is redirecting when the Responsive theme is active?
Kind regards
Jules
I thought that it would be easy to change the copyright text in Customiser. I went to the Footer section, clecked on Layout and scrolled down to Footer Bar with copyright text. However, there is now way I can put any text into the field. For now I had to use CSS not to display Powered by with the link. However, I would like to add a small image to the text – I am unable to do so via the Customiser. Can you please help?
Actually, it has now become more complicated: when I clicked on Select tag and chose copyright text, instead of letting me to input some text, it added Powered by etc with the copyright symbol and I now have duplicates of this text and symbol and I can’t get rid of them. I have to point out that I did not save this at all – and yet this unwanted text is there. And to top it all, on inspecting the copyright text I can see that it has lost its CSS class completely – I am unable to hide any part of it. This is extremely frustrating and I am pretty desperate.
Greetings,
Enjoying the possibilities provided in the Responsive theme and have come against a snag.
https://cyberchimps.com/docs/responsive-theme-settings/#sidebar
Shows drop-down options but in my Customizer, I only see On/Off options and nothing for disabling sidebar on checkout page. Am I missing something?
Also, regarding the Responsive Options -> Useful Plugins
WP Legal Pages – when Active, creates 900 separate PHP errors every time “any page” in Admin Dashboard is loaded. One also has to signup for an account before using which is not mentioned anywhere on their plugin page. Not your problem, I know, but perhaps it is best not to recommend this plugin.
GDPR Cookie Consent – for whatever reason, would not activate, no errors shown anywhere. What is the plugin page URL for this?
It would be nice if the URL of the plugin page was provided, so one could have a look see at the details before choosing to use.
Using WordPress 6.5.2, PHP 8.1 and Responsive 5.0.3
Looking forward to your reply.
I am wondering about the logo image:
I added the logo to the header – its size is 347 x 83. However, your theme automatically reduces it to 252.7×60.45. Consequently it looks too small on the desktop. I changed the CSS for the custom logo image to
max-width: 200%;
That looks fine on the desktop, but not on mobile. So I hade to change the CSS back to your original code: 100%.
This is something I have not encountered before on my previous website using your theme. Is there anything I can do about this?
Thank you.
Hello,
I saw a warning that the version of Responsive that this website was using had a vulnerability, so I upgraded to the latest version of the theme. When I did this, the style in my Child theme broke entirely causing me to revert to a backup. What can I do to make sure that my child styles remain with the upgrade?
Thanks,
I have a child theme. Is its style.css loaded along with the parent theme? Or will I have to add this to function.php:
add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘my_theme_enqueue_styles’ );
function my_theme_enqueue_styles() {
$parent_style = 'parent-style';
wp_enqueue_style( $parent_style, get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css' );
wp_enqueue_style( 'child-style',
get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/style.css',
array( $parent_style ),
wp_get_theme()->get('Version')
);
}
I would be grateful for your input.
Thanks.
Years ago I had my menu on the left side below the logo. Now I would like to move the menu to the right side by side with the logo. I tried to do this in Customizer in Header Elements by setting the Header Layout to Horizontal – it didn’t make any difference. Many thanks.

Hi all, I have recently reinstalled the responsive theme and rebuilt my site due to a conflict with an older version of the child site.
I am now having trouble with the width of the smooth slider widget located on the homepage. I cannot work out how to get it to span 100% to line up with the 3 widgets below.
I ideally would like the same amount of padding/gap around each of the 3 widgets and the smooth slider widget. I have palyed around with the css but just can’t get it correct.
Any ideas? Thank you ??
It’s been a long time since I have played around with the WordPress admin and style/theme and have discovered my sites header menu is permanently expanded, showing all the submenus. I am using the responsive theme. It’s meant to be vertical with the submenus appearing on hover. Not sure if it’s a setting in the theme or CSS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated ??
Hi,
My local site (foracure.local) looks fine:
(ignore the background image, that is a remnant of the screenshot process)
If I transfer the database and themes using WP Migrate to dev.forecure.org.au the main content does not show:
This is caused by the following code being commented out:

If I search for <!--?
it is not found in the local parent or child theme.
If I search for Responsive\responsive_wrapper_top();
this function is not being commented out in the local parent or theme files.
There is no caching locally or in the remote dev site.
Help appreciated.
Hello,
I have the following problem on my homepage:
The page is structured as an oneside and therefore there is no reload when clicking on a menu item. So if you click on a menu item in the mobile view, the menu does not disappear but remains open. Is there a way to close it automatically after clicking on an entry?
I would be very happy to receive an answer.
Kind regards
